Message:This is pretty obscure, since we just got it up 3 weeks ago, and I just have to toot my man's horn, even though it's not all Christmas music.
It's long (my man sure does have that stamina thing goin' on), so feel free to skip around, or skip ahead, using the long set list provided. Most of it is pretty darn good, if I don't say so myself. And some cute boys scattered about, too.

Message:One of my pet peeves is the butchery of various Christmas songs by pop stars who feel the need to "make the song their own". Justin Beiber and Cher come to mind.
A better approach is to just write your own songs. Los Campesinos is releasing a Christmas EP. Pitchfork is streaming the EP until December 5. I'll see if I can find it elsewhere after Dec 5.

Message:Ok... spoke too quickly. Four of the six songs are original. "Lonely This Christmas" is a cover of the song by Mud, and The Holly and the Ivy is an oldie but goodie.

I mentioned this album in the past and gave a link to it on MySpace. The link below takes you directly to one of my favorite selections on the album.

An Indy string trio caught my attention a bit ago. They are called Time for Three and are very talented. They released a very nice Christmas EP that I now have on my phone. They are playing little concerts around Indianapolis the entire season. If you get a chance, check them out.
My favorite piece from their EP is an interesting fusion of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Little Drummer Boy. I cannot find a site for streaming that piece, but it is available on Spotify and iTunes.

Message:Here's is an interesting approach to a Christmas carol. "Als I lay on Yoolis night" is a medieval song with haunting vocals. Anonymous 4 captures this perfectly.

Not being familiar with that one, I looked for an arrangement that featured the melody and made the lyrics more discernible. I found the one below. I'm not sure I like it better, but it is different.

However, several of the older videos have been removed, which is a pity. Some of them have been reposted and can be found with YouTube's search engine.

I'm sure this is very probably nearly the exact same thing. If not, I think it certainly at least qualifies as "obscure".
And pardon the lack of a direct link, but if you check this out, perhaps you'll understand why:

Message:I normally depend upon SiriusXM's Holiday Pops station for my yearly fix of old timey Christmas music. This year, SiriusXM decided to restrict their broadcast to about 36 hours starting Christmas eve.
With only the slightest effort, I discovered that the Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) has a dedicated stream for classical Christmas music, and it has started already.
I don't listening in earnest until December 1...
