Congrats ValpoJim!!! You've been so close so many times, glad to see you finally nabbed NetCell's most prestigious prize (for tournaments anyway :P).

Valpo did it again in the US Open. Congrats. That was a good one to play.

Now up to 16 Masters win with a nice victory on Feb 19th. The 5x6 down on the bottom row derailed me along with one of the 6x5's.

Though ValpoJim has yet to win a Masters this year, he won all other three majors this week, which is highly impressive in itself. Did anyone ever win all four to complete a "Weekly Grand Slam"? The different time zones are, of course, an additional obstacle to the fierce competition.

Great question, and good spot! Wish I knew the answer, although I too would be tempted to say no due to the time zone difference, like you mentioned. Hope he gets chance to play in the Masters tonight.

Well, he played and tied for first (with a rare 34/36 for the top 6), but 6th by time.

Did a quick check of the last 100 (with the AO being a good sieve - Hop won about half of these and hardly plays the other majors) and Beowulf came quite close on March 2019, winning three in a week (Masters, USO, AO) but not playing the other. The interesting bit is that he won the British the week before that!

Is a Spud Slam on the cards, so to speak? Three out of four 'majors' in the bag already, which is impressive enough, but will he be taking on the US Open at 2am on Sat, one wonders?

Whilst it would be nice to give this a go, it's safe to say I won't ever be making an appearance in the US Open. I am definitely someone who can't function without a good night's sleep. I can manage the occasional appearance in the Masters finishing at 1am, but playing 2am-4am would really be too much!

Well, in the absence of Spud trying to make history, it was vishna who clinched her first US Open, and first major of any kind since 2003.
