okay, super specific topic, might not go anywhere but what the hell. i'm working on a 9x2 that at first glance i thought would be cake. got a column clear immediately but then lost it and found out it has a low win percent (single digits). then lost it again even knowing it was tricky. still haven't won it but am trying. ever hit one of these?

my brain runs about 5 times slower than yours, other than that we're competitors. if you were traveling about 0.9999999 the speed of light i think i might best you, but then internet connectivity would be an issue. the zero percent win that you hit would have surprised me also. Maybe you had a slow connection? Or were you playing a game of blindfolded chess simultaneously? I'm tempted to try it now, but then would feel compelled to post my time - IF I should be fortunate enough to beat it. Curious that it was apparently lost the first 24 times it was played - and now has been won 3 in a row.

Hey TN, apologies for giving myself the back-door compliment on this post. This one just jumped out at me as shocking since it is rare for me (or likely anyone else except for the really, really fast freecell players) to solve any 8x2 this quickly - let alone one with a winning percentage this low. Maybe I should have started the opposite thread - "games that look hard but aren't". There is a good chance I looked at the layout, thought it looked hard, but thought if there was a solution it must be this and took the plunge. It's pretty much impossible to determine why this game got to 24-0 before it got dealt to me without being able to survey everyone who had it before.

LOL. You certainly don't need to apologize to me (or anyone else for that matter). Even tho I don't do tournaments, I know you're one of the best around. That said, I understand your point. Even tho I don't ever try to play fast, sometimes one can just quickly "see" 2 or 3 things that seemingly 'have' to work out, so you go for them and hope for the best. Sometimes that methodology fails, as I'm sure you know better even than myself. And it's possible that that 0/24 was largely one player trying repeatedly to beat it, although I don't think that number of plays is excessive for a climate 5 game. Seems pretty ordinary.
