Denny and others, for the last few days, when playing a tournament and I go to "current results" page, I notice that another site starts loading. The last one was a site called plutotv. This same thing will continue to happen again and again when going to the results page. It's annoying. Its always advertisement crapola. I am Premium and sure that I am not expired for the year. I have already cleared my cache but that didn't work. I have not done anything different with my computer or loaded a new program. Any ideas what might be happening...anyone??? Thanks in advance.

hotnurse, check your master scheduling module. That sure sounds to me like it might be time for you to return to the mother ship. If you can no longer play freecell, then it's possible your time on this existence plane to try and put us humans on the "right path" has run its course - as we have failed to fully heed your ministrations. We would miss you, if that's the case, but all know you have a higher mission in this galaxy.

when i go to results, i get no ads and i'm not premium. i don't think that page even has ads. i run avast (free) and malwarebytes (paid for premium) and have never had anything sneak in for years and years. have you run a full scan with your antivirus?

ix, it's not only when I go to check the results page it also happens, and happened right now, when I go to discussion. The page it just now loaded was www.lifescript.com, an entire site, not just a page. As I was writing this I checked my antivirus (Malwarebytes) and it was outdated. I am presently downloading Avast, free. I have used that before and it was fine. Thanks for the help. I never thought of that. Funny, though, that the pages only loaded when I went to Freecell. But, I only open Facebook and my gmail most of the time, oh, and I google a lot too but have never had anything happen with those places. I am running a scan right now and will give you an update soon. Thanks ix and nice seeing you!

Wow, that took care of it. Funny that it never happened when I was on the play page. Only when I went to the other pages within Freecell. I also went ahead and added it to my cell phone and paid the $5.99/yr for the no-ad version. I already get enough ads and I don't need more. :)

Hey hotnurse, have you done any searches on lifescript to see if anyone else had any problems with that site ? I saw this when I did a search & I copied this from the comment. You might want to investigate further. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best Answer: I used to have a subscription to a Lifescript newsletter. I cancelled it, when I realized Lifescript was the source of a lot of spam that I was getting. I like the website though. Very much. Just don't put your email anywhere, on that site. LOL. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See - that's what I was talking about. hotnurse's life was long ago scripted by her master scheduling module. Even the hokey pokey can't fix that.

Thanks for the humor guys, but seriously, this is still happening. Just now as soon as I opened the Discussion page another site loaded called "whisper.sh" but the site was not able to completely load and had that "Oh snap" on the page. I can't begin to figure this out. It only happens here, no other site. I'm not *blaming* it on freecell, but for some reason it only happens when I go to an alternate page on this site. And, it just started last week out of the blue! I did the Avast, and went through all of the repair stuff but still no fix.

Oh, you want serious? Ok. You've likely already tried this, but turn your computer off, and then turn it back on and run Malwarebytes before you get on the 'net. Also, I've used Malwarebytes for years, but occasionally (including once recently) had success with Spybot when there seems to be something Malwarebytes isn't catching. It's free, and takes a different approach than Malwarebytes. You'll have to download it, of course, and it's free - or at least there's a free version. I don't know if that will work, but give it a try.

I just tried something else and it might have been the problem. I had loaded "mapsally" a few weeks ago when we were going to Alabama. So far, no more loads while on this site. If this didn't help I will try what you said. Tx!

So far, so good. By taking off "mapsally", which I didn't find a bit helpful, I have not seen any antics loading.

Many times those "free" programs have hidden programs in them . Sometimes there is an opt out box hidden in the user agreement and sometimes it's just installed without any opt out . I always research any program I download , often there is a trusted site to download from , you just have to look a bit harder to find it . I remember spending an hour or so cleaning out my dads computer after he somehow downloaded a very invasive program . Those extra add on's that came with it were a real bit#& to get rid of !

I have used McAfee Internet security for years and believe that it has protected me from such problems. It is provided at no additional charge by both of the ISP's I use, at home and at work. I believe that most ISP's now provide quality software to protect against both virus and other malware. They should - most of them charge enough!

Not to dispute your experience Roger, but many here hate McAfee (myself included), and it's been discussed several times on this board. Just so everyone who might be tempted to use that one gets other perspectives, I provide just one counter-example thread (there are more).

Why not try going into your control panel, programs-uninstall and take a look at what is there? Perhaps you will find some really odd ball program you know should not be there. If you spot something and you're not sure, open a screen and search on the program that's in question and see what is said. I've done that in the past, found the problem and simply click on the "uninstall" then follow any instructions that may say you have to reboot.

sking, if you are referring to me...I found the problem. I had put "mapsally" on my pc about 3 wks ago to use during a trip to Ala. I had forgotten that I did that, so I was *sure* that I had not downloaded anything new. But I had. I finally noticed a tiny, inconspicuous icon up near my toolbar. Once I deleted that program all of the oddities vanished. It was just odd that things were only happening to me and only on the results page. Anyway..........all is good.
