I just received enough repayments to make another loan, with some money left over, priming the pump for the next one. So far, I have 269 loans, which I thought was pretty good. The loan is to a man named Jacob in Kenya, it will its lending period will expire within a day or so, if not fully funded, and the money will be returned to our accounts. I noticed he has 6 lenders so far, so I decided to have a look. Three Americans, one from British Columbia, one from Australia, and Matthias from Bern, Switzerland. Matthias has made 4860 loans in his 6 years of KIVA membership. Understanding the vast majority of those loans were from repaid prior loans, it's still mind-blowing. (Assuming every loan was a minimum-amount $25, that comes to $121,500 original and recirculated dollars.) Say his original investment was $5000. Had he "donated" that money to a charity, it would have been used, and then gone. But instead, he has helped so many tiny businesspersons! I see his teams are Athiests, Agnostics, Skeptics..., and also Swiss KIVA. One more thing to remember. When each dollar is returned to an account, it can be withdrawn by the lender, instead of being re-lent. Say he had originally invested $5000, he would eventually be able to get it all back if he so decided. But I doubt he will. TeamFreecell's motto is, we donate "Because we can." His is, "Because it makes sense." I mentioned Jacob's loan will expire in a day or so. Some lenders specialize in financing loans whose lending periods are shortly to expire. They are called "Late lenders."

MY bad. I see he has made 4960 loans, not 4860. Add $100 to his total lending. He will shortly eclipse 5000 loans!

Thanks Snowy. I need these occasional reminders. Had enough repayments to make 4 new loans. Totally a Late Lender. Hate to see those loans go unfunded.

Same here. Also a late lender. Recently got some repayments so lent those again with a little additional. So far all of the late loans I have made have gotten totally funded before expiration except for one who just had too much to go.

Thanks! By the way, I see Matthias is up to 5004 loans. (Unusual, in that he has lent to more men than women. overall, 81% females.) So far, over $1 Billion has been lent, by 1.6 Million lenders to 2.6 Million borrowers.
