Thanks Ken!!! I can't imagine what kind of time mickyiw or CS would have gotten with that mix of games... When I checked the standings you were ahead of me...it always feels good to pull out a Masters win. Would have played under my primary nick but my little boxer puppy was nibbling at my ankles :D

Glad that puppy slowed you down a little :O) It was an easy mix and at 42 mins I needed just the 7x3. I think that's a record for me 70 mins on one game! - abysmal I kept making the same mistake over and over on the winning line. Kept trying other false pathways thinking there must be another way....... Oh well ! that's the beauty of this annoying addiction I guess

Thanks kenwa, and congrats also dr.ck! I saw your ~amazing~ time at 31 games, ken, and I can appreciate the pain of losing such a good performance on the last freakin' game! Definitely been there, done that.... (sob) .comfort ken Kisses to the puppy, ck!

Yes, I believe she might be..... sorry mabb, my empathies to you ;o( Not to rub it in but to stimulate discussion, I solved that 8x2 in about 3 minutes first try. My question is this: I just solved a game that mabb spent about 35 minutes on first try in 3 minutes, and yesterday in the Masters I spent 70 minutes on a game that she solved WAY before me. What is it that gives us "eyes to see with" one day and not the next? A few rare players don't ever seem to have an off day, (although I did see mickyiw once come in 7th in an AIO) but it is very rare. Most of the good regular players do pretty well with occasional great tourneys and occasional disasters - why? Tiredness is a factor I'm sure but it is not the only thing and it is not consistent because I felt fairly rested before that Masters and the won I won recently I was sleep deprived from night shifts. If we could only figure out what is that missing element that enables us to apply our FreeCell goggles. - What else is involved my fellow netcellers?

I don't know what causes this, but I definitely am a "streaky player". I really wish I could play consistently from day to day. I really think that some days I can just see the what it takes to solve games easily, and other days I guess I'm just human. As for yesterday's Master's I didn't even know what game was giving everybody trouble, I think I played that game twice during the tournament. But then again when you are in the zone everything just comes easy!!!

I would love to be in the zone more often :) Oh and I played that 7x3 more than twice! That's the second Masters in a row that I was ahead of mabb and she finished ahead of me.......hmmmmm

kenwa, I was amazed to see you persist after seeing your amazing time for 31 games. I call that freecell hell. Playing the same game over and over and seeing others win it. Haven't played much in the past few years, but finishing 32 games felt great to me. I just happened to try the right combo on that 7x3. Crunch

thanks Crunch, I did walk away a couple of times actually but then just plain stubbornness kept bringing me back - freecell hell is an apt description.

Hey kenwa, Nice win last week. Seemed like you might have been in the proverbial zone last weekend leading up to it. Frustrating how it comes and goes. This week, there was no stopping calicokid. That 4x8 he had trouble with made it seem closer than it was. Looking at the scores page for calicokid, it seems like I have a ways to go to fully embrace the mickyiw mantra - "win fast and lose faster". ck's results are filled with 1 and 2-second losses.

hey calicokid, drafting would explain that first loss at 0:01 but then I'd see another loss at 0:02 or 0:03 on the same game right after! What's going on there????

Happy New Year to all! Woke up this morning and hadn't seen WRAC playing lately and feared perhaps he'd made a resolution to play less freecell. I'm just not sure winning would be quite as much fun without grinding it out with WRAC in the mix. Both of those final two 6x5's seemed like they could be winnable so there's always a fear of choosing the wrong one and getting aced out in the end. In this case, both turned out to winnable so I'm guessing a bit of luck for me since I'm guessing WRAC was trying game #34: 6x5 15263-9 first.

I actually had a stronger sense that 6x5 18133-11 might be winnable, so I went after that one first. But no matter, you were too fast for me tonight!

Hey Kaos, The 2 and 3 second losses are usually because I make the wrong first move, I'm not very good at recalling the sequences that lead me to almost beating a game. So what I do is keep playing until the cards look as they should in order to win, and change what I did last time to beat it. Many times I realize I made a bad move almost immediately, then I quit to try again. This is like a brute force/speedy approach to beating difficult games. I won't say that it is very efficient though. On many games I don't even look to see what will work, I just start moving cards, basically using my instincts on what looks right, as opposed to thinking about what move to make first. On another note my 'playing' computer's hard drive took a major dump, so I probably won't be able to play until late next week (fingers crossed). I'm missing freecell badly!
