so, the bears are the first to clinch their division...ya hoo!! i don't have alot of hope thru the playoffs, however, they'll be good practice for cutler...who finally seems to remember he's a QB. if they can just hang in there for another...year? two?? they could well be superbowl material once again. but they'd best hurry so's brian can get his ring before he retires. was sure fun watching ol' bret play....he's always been one of my favorite all-time qb's...even if he did always play for the wrong damteam. end of favre playing football...end of an era. i'm glad the man got one more td before he calls it quits. figures a rookie would take him down...proving the old guys just can't mix it up with the kids. sorry, bret.

They lost to the Seahawks at home. I'm not sure that bodes well for their chances in the playoffs.

>>>damgud: "so, the bears are the first to clinch their division...ya hoo!!" Lifetime Bears fan here. Not quite a Superfan, but close. I don't waste a lot of time watching football pre-game shows, but I had ESPN up and rolling about 15 minutes prior to kickoff this past Monday. As part of their routine, they asked each analyst for their prediction of who would win. Mike Ditka was one of the first, and after a brief explanation, he stated simply, "da-Bearsss." It was a funny moment.

sorry i missed that...i caught the after-show, but not the pre. but i love ditka anyway...and i think that, even having been fired, he still has a soft spot for "da-bearssss". man spent the majority of his prof football career in chicago, after all! kaos: i think i already stated that i didn't have a whole lotta hope thru the playoffs..however...it'll be an awesome learning experience for the whole team. and let's face it, on "any given sunday", any team can win...or lose..."against all odds". even the seahawks.

Geez, did you watch the Sunday night game? I liked Lovie Smith as a coach of Da' Bears. He was a great match for that Monsters of Midway mentality. They lost that now and whatever the new coach is spouting doesn't take it's place. Then there's running into the Green Bay Aaron Rodgers. Can I say he's actually underrated? I think he's already one of the five best QB's ever. He's underrated because he does everything very well but nothing outstanding. Is he as smart as the professor (AKA Peyton Manning)? No - that's a B+ vs. A+ Is he as smart as GQ (AKA Tom Brady)? No, that's B+ vs. A What about Brees? B+ vs. B+ Arm Strength? Rodgers gets an A besting (Manning, Brady, Brees) peers Accuracy? Rodgers gets an A besting/tieing (Manning, Brady, Brees) Elusiveness? Rodgers gets an A- besting (Manning, Brady, Brees) by a bit.

sonnycrockett on this board is an "ex-pat" from Chicago now living in Arizona. I wonder if he's switched loyalties... My father's family goes way back in Chicago. I am hardcore for the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Cubs. There have been good times and bad.

I love the Bears/Packers rivalry, so rich in tradition...switching loyalties is a no-no IMO, gotta be true to one's family...if you're as utterly dominant as US Woman's soccer, or as utterly bereft of glories to look back upon (Detroit Lions? I suspect no DET fan under 70 has vivid memories of the last title they hoisted...
