That's real nice. Thanks. As always, Bonnie knows what's what and gets the best people to work with her. Everybody knows Lindley, but fewer are probably aware of (the late) Mike Finnigan (nice fills with the B3 there), as just one further example. He did a couple(?) of nice albums in the late '70s(?) with Les Dudek (an underappreciated gunslinger) and Jim Krueger, among lots of other projects. He's played with "all the greats", too, like Taj, Rod S., Cohen, Buddy Guy, Graham Nash, and tons more (the proverbial "too many to mention"). I'm really bummed that David is no longer with us.....

I was scrolling through available programs in my "library" on YouTube TV and found an Austin City Limits with Jackson Browne. Given today's discussion about some dear musicians lost, I thought I'd watch. When Mr. Browne sang "These Days", it carried a totally different meaning than it did in 1967. These days I seem to think about How all the changes came about my way And I wonder if I'd see another Highway Sigh. This is why I resist revisiting the lyrical heroes of my youth.

It will remain a profound mystery, I suppose, how he, along with a very few others, could write such 'mature', wordly lyrics at such a young age. Was he really on an ACL in 1967? I think that's too early for that program to have existed. But I suspect I'm slightly missing your point. Maybe you're referring to *your* 1967?

Yes, my 1967. He was on ACL quite recently (season 47). And I agree. Where does a 19-year-old find those lyrics?

Looping back to the brief discussion of "The Book of Love" by the Magnetic Fields: >>Date: Mon Nov 14 18:34:31 2022 >>User: TNmountainman >>Message: "I also went and listened to the live operatic(-ish) Peter Gabriel version, which imo seemed contrived and pales in comparison." I saw the Magnetic Fields in a converted movie theater: nice, small venue with seats for everyone. "The Book of Love" was introduced by Stephin Merritt: "So there I was in the Hollywood Bowl listening to Peter Gabriel. As he performed 'The Book of Love', animated stick figures performed above his head, a boy Peter Gabriel and a girl Peter Gabriel. At the end of the song, they got married, which is strange because in the song, they absolutely do not get married." oops. Here's another interesting song from the Magnetic Fields. This one sung by Claudia Gonson. It's about birds.

Sometimes................................when one doesn't revisit something for a while, one could possibly forget - well, not "forget", but partially minimize, let's say - the immensity of the talent and genius of John Bonham and his mates. This should correct that. If played loud enough. 🥁🎸

Here's some of those Carter harmonies, Klepp. I present it not so much as a shining example of recorded tunes, but almost as a documentary-type thing, from 1986. That said..........the harmonies are not absent.

I don't think I'm being biased here..............but I think this is just seriously, seriously, bad-a** all the way through. Ok, maybe there's one slow song in the middle, or possibly two, and it starts a little bluegrass-y with the one Flatt & Scruggs tune, but I think that just comes with the Billy-tory. A couple of 'pertinent' John Hartford classics for this *4/20* occasion, and then a flat-out, intense, no-holds-barred jam for the whole last half of this hour and 11 minutes. After the second Hartford choice, just strap yourself in. The whole show was 3+ hours, and this is just the first set. No word yet on whether or not outskirts attended. Awesome sound; awesome video; beyond-awesome musicianship. Recommend watching on a full screen computer.

In north Florida we have a bitty little music festival in a bitty little town on the Suwannee that's been going on for 71 years now, called the Florida Folk Festival, on Memorial Day weekend. You'll never guess who had the gall to just show up unannounced. And they let them play. Sheesh. Initials ST and DT

How dare those interlopers come in there and think they can get away with that! The "boss guy" was sure annoying, doing his Paul Shaffer-type "directing" - and then telling Gent to wrap it up. And the editing was terrible - showing them leading Gent off the back of the stage, and then immediately after that.........there he was again jamming out. But a super nice event, clearly.

I was cruising the channels on Bell TV, impressed by the 1000+ channels, about 35% of which are in French. I stumbled upon the CBC Documentary channel. I was excited to see that the new documentary, "Doug and the Slugs and Me," was about to start. The documentary is okay, but it certainly reminded me of my New Wave phase. Here's a taste, from the album "Cognac and Bologna."

As to the Kravitz selection..............so much effort, so much equipment, so many talented people, and yet......................he lip-synced it. Atrocious decision, imo. Why? Just why? 'Cause he/they wanted a smooth sound, rather than genuine authenticity - I guess. Just my opinion, obviously.
