This song is about 10 days old. I had the pleasure seeing it in a tiny, basement jazz club the second time it was performed. I mentioned Sarah Sharp in the "old music" thread for her cover of "Scotch and Soda." She writes a bit, and her songs can be fun and creative. This one is a bit of a love ballad. Sarah takes on a somewhat whispery approach to this song, but she has a full and beautiful voice.

Play it nice and sweet now........

For those who happened to be watching Farm Aid on Saturday, we were treated to a surprise set with Bob Dylan, Mike Campbell, (old buddy who dated my bff), with some Dirty Knobs (Mike's band now) and some Heartbreakers, (Mike's old band), joining Bob on stage for a trilogy of the best songs of Bob's that they could have picked. Messy but wonderful 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Benmont Tench (old Heartbreaker from Gville) on keyboards 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 It was only through a simple twist of fate that I was watching.

Ballad of a Thin Man
No announcement, or introduction! Just boom there they were. I about died. Then died again, then again.
You can watch the entire 16-17 minute set just search utube for Bob Dylan and the heartbreakers. I'll get it if anyone expresses interest and is unable to find it.
At the bottom of TN's link is the entire session (on YouTube).
Farm Aid was streamed on YouTube and broadcast on the circle network, where I was watching. Circle reran it Sunday afternoon. They well might run it again, check your listings. On the rerun yesterday the girl hosting did a short intro on cards like subterranean homesick blues right after the commercial break. It didn't say who but the card thing was a dead giveaway. It went right into the performance after that little obvious clue. I had missed that the night before.
Lol I missed it because Neil Young had just finished his set and I was googling his wives. Current wife Daryl Hannah.
Not that it matters...........but on my browser, the link to the entire session wasn't showing. (I went back and looked again.) I was able to find it by 'moving stuff around', but it was not visible as originally displayed. Nor did I "go looking"; that link was just on an email from Relix that came in that same frame.
RIP Pegi........(nothing against Daryl)..........
Go out and marinate under this current "Harvest Moon" before the sun comes back up - or do it tomorrow night; it'll still be full then...

It'll take awhile, but I recommend reading any 200 or 300 of the comments.

Sonny Landreth and the Iguanas on tour! Will be seeing them in May in a nice venue in Philly, where I will be for a graduation.
That could/should be hot. Are all the Iguanas still together?

Benmont. If you think that's a strange name, well it's a combo of his first and middle names. Benjamin, and an even stranger name. But he comes by it honestly, because he is the third. A building downtown bears the family name at the top!
I'm sure I met him in passing, but don't remember. Lol
Love him! Used him a lot on my first album!
Yup. He's done it with just about everybody. See under

Hah. Benmont was on two tracks of Patti's album. Just look at the other personnel on that album. And that still didn't get it much attention, Patti.
Well..............ok:

(This performance would not qualify for the "Great lip-syncing performances" thread.)
Edit: Just for context and clarity...............my post was in response to the original version of the one just above it (now altered and nearly deleted), which merely was "Try". Thus the impetus of my follow-up.
Wow. I didn't know that Butch Trucks had shot himself in the head in 2017.
Here's your Ace, Joey and it's sizzling hot

This was just posted 2 days ago, and it's a good recording. Not earth-shattering in its novelty, as there must be 50 versions of Doc doing this, but not sure I've ever heard him and Taj together - at least not that I can remember at the moment. Keyboards unattributed ("Butch"? - don't know who that'd be). More of a slice of history, but a very nice one:
Deep Elem Blues - Doc Watson & Taj Mahal - YouTube
And from that same show, and sure enough, "Butch" on piano:
Took another deep dive into a concert of old music by an aging artist. This time it was Wynonna Judd and her Big Noise Band. I am somewhat familiar with her work, mostly as part of The Judds. She has an amazingly powerful voice and a fun stage presence. Her band was quite capable, especially her keyboard player and guitarists. Her bassist, dude on the Hammond, and drummer were solid. Her audience ranged over generations, and they were crazy for her. She had no warmup band but took a 20 minute intermission. She seemed to be performing all of her huge hits, because the audience knew every word. It was a good time.
============
When she finished her second encore, her drummer (and husband) took it upon himself to carry on with a 5-minute drum solo. He's good, but not that kind of good.

Myles Goodwyn - R.I.P.
YouTube shows it to me everyday lately and I find myself clicking it again and again.
All 3 so bloody talented

I posted the same one on my fb not long ago
We've revisited, earlier in this thread, I think, the TAMI show, where the Stones had to try and follow a hot James Brown set. But I don't *think* we looked at this segment:

(I think she may only have been 17 here?)
Just fyi..........back in Feb., 2023, in this thread, I speculated that Lee Sklar was on over 200 albums. I just happened to see something that said he was on over 2000. I guess I should only be mildly surprised. 😮

While Melanie was mentioned in the "Favorite Song, Favorite Movie, and your age" thread, I didn't think the thread itself was very Melanie-rich, so....................
