Between bad timing and other things, it's been 2 1/2 years since we last spoke, but I'm still smiling for you. Jazmin is a real cutie, and here's hoping she doesn't learn too many wicked ways from her mother and sister. So how old is Jess now, 21 already? ;)

Modderrhu... now that's a guy I haven't seen for a long long time. Very few of us left. Without, I think, breaking the rules of this discussion board I will opine that partizan politics, specifically the ever-growing tendency to hate and demonize those people you've never met but who disagree with you, was THE major factor in the collapse of this site as a community. Of course this is rampant in the current culture at large; this community only reflected that dismal trend. It might be said that the internet itself is the major underlying cause of this destructive polarization, but such argument is for some other forum. Nice seeing ya rosebuddy!

I disagree. The ugly started after election '08. Of course there were trolls before and not politically motivated, but throw in politics and it does get horrendously ugly. I think Joey's assessment is the most accurate so far.

It really does not need much interpretation. Simply, I am right and you are wrong.

my first inclination is to say i misspoke. my second is to say that if it was the turmoil people didn't like, now that discussion is so tame, why didn't they return? my third is to say there are plenty of places on the internet to be social, this is just a game site. lets go with my first.

*large hug* ix I was always happy to see you in chat. You are one of my favorite people, albeit at least a half bubble off center. And you had (probably still do) the best legs on a man I have ever seen. No that is not drool on the screen. Really. BUT, pretty legs, you didn't answer the question, or more correctly, you didn't give your explanation. I do not do chat anymore, and don't see it in my future. I look at discussion occasionally, but can't remember the last time I posted. Don't scratch scabs or reopen old wounds either if I can help it. This one is because of Rosie. I have good memories of her. And Rhu (always liked Modd) posted it. We had some large times on chat. I used to laugh so hard my ribs hurt. We had some great freecell parties. I went to as many as I could. I still have my freecell hat and t-shirt. Those were the days, my friend. But that was yesterday. And, you know...

Hi, julia. .hug I think joey is pretty accurate...........except............in my personal opinion, it was more Denny's *reaction* than the conflict itself. Or maybe the lack of a firm, timely reaction to control the bad actors. I personally think the bad acting could have been successfully quashed, with Denny and the delegated authority of 2-3 reasonable moderators. BUT.........that wasn't my/our call. Shockingly, apparently Denny has another life to live 'elsewhere' (go figure), and he felt it was too risky to have some sort of legal ramifications *potentially* come back on him. I think that fear was far overblown, but that's TOTALLY his call, and we have no right to say he reacted improperly. It's sad that he had to look at it like that, but he clearly said he had to look out for his family; and he saw such risk, however small, as too much to take. That said..........it really was a couple of posters, or maybe just one (or 3), who took delight(?) in trying to push the envelope too far at every edge and seam. It just doesn't take too many peeps to ruin a good thing enjoyed my so many. I certainly understand the concept of pushing boundaries; to explore concepts and do thought experiments. But when that action harms others, or curtails the enjoyment of others, then it becomes blatantly selfish. And thus the world turns..................... And ix, the reason 'they' didn't return is the same reason when one has a bad experience at a restaurant, one will go almost anywhere else because it's human nature to avoid repeating one's 'mistakes' - even if the restaurant gets a new owner, new menu, whatever. This site had a wonderful, delectable roux, but a heavy hand (or two) with the cayenne peppers spoiled it. Further, this is *still* not *just* a game site. It's become much, much closer to that, but there remain real relationships here, and quite a few of those that became in-person relationships, too. (Marriages even!) There may be other "game sites" that have that quality, but I've not seen them (not that I've looked much).
