Took me over three months to read in its entirety...I wonder who's had the impetus to *read* its entirety in under 72 hours? I wish I'd had the mental means...certainly not now, even then...

Sorry Tn, been so many years ago that I just don't remember all the details. But I know every time either one came to town, it was a packed house, rocking the walls.

Ever get to see Queen Ida there? She and her band could kill it, too. In fact, I thought they were hotter than Buckwheat, but that's just personal preference. I doubt if you got to see Clifton (Chenier). His son and band are pretty good, but just missing some of Clifton's power and 'authenticity' (as if).

Don't remember as far back as Clifton, though it wouldn't surprise me if he played there before I became a regular, did see CJ several times. Don't recall Queen IDA. Can't recall his name, but there was another Zydeco player that actually cooked gumbo on stage.

Did someone mention Maria Muldaur? And Tuba Skinny? ".... from the band's recent collaboration with Maria Muldaur" ..... just saw this (Maria's not on it) Fun fact- Shay, the band leader playing that sweet cornet, and Erika, their singer (not on this) like to go play country music in Nashville with Erika's other band.

It's been awhile since we've put forth any Guy Clark, or Prine, or Emmylou, so now it's time. This is an elegant little piece, from a 2011 tribute album (double CD); this tune performed by Emmylou and Prine. This song was started by Shawn Camp, as one of his line of "Sis Draper" Arkansawyer tunes about a mystical, mythical(?) AR fiddler. He got stuck, and took it to Guy, who helped him finish it (and it's credited to both). Clearly it's a hybrid, but seems to have more of Guy's touch than Shawn's. Shawn actually plays mando and fiddle on it. Don't know who does the nice accordion fill, but I have my suspicions. I don't own this album, but from what I've heard of it, it's pretty nice up and down. Obviously (I hope), that's not Emmylou or Prine in that pic. It's Susanna and Guy. Heck - Townes may even have taken it. Enjoy, ix. p.s. - There's now a movie about Guy and his life called "Without Getting Killed or Caught", by Tamara Saviano, who was his long-time booker/producer/publicist/whatever - in conjunction with Susanna's niece, Sherri Lemaire(sp?), who received all Susanna's notebooks, artwork, etc. when she passed away. It's won some awards I think, but is not one of those that'll be in what I think's called "general release". Sissy Spacek does the vocal narrative, as she's from very near where Susanna was, in NE Texas. And I realize that this has become allll too much about that/this.

Maria collaborates with Tuba Skinny: https://stonyplainrecords.com/lp/happytogether/ The title, ""Without Getting Killed or Caught," I recognized immediately as a song lyric from deep in my past. Gratefully, it took me only a minute to remember that it was from a Jerry Jeff Walker album my housemate played endlessly. The song, of course, is "L.A. Freeway," and I was unaware that it was a Guy Clark song. Interestingly, Walker released the song on his 1972 album (self titled) before Clark released it on his Old No. 1 album in 1975. Nice little blast from the past.

I once walked all the way to the top of a snow covered 5400 metre peak then skiid down. It wasn't that hard. I don't know what all these mountaineers carry on about. It was in Bolivia and we had caught a bus to the car park which was at 5000 metres and when I say I skiid down I mean that I slid face first with skis fitted on my boots.

Every day for the past three months, I have been informed that my Norton Antivirus subscription is "expiring today." This would be disconcerting if I had Norton on my machine. About a month ago, I started receiving three emails daily on the same subject. A few days ago, I started getting daily reminders that my McAfee is expiring today. I don't have McAfee either. I don't bother to open the emails. I delete them all with a single click.

About a dozen years ago, there was a website called comicsworld. It had scans of every comic from the golden age on. It was like being a kid in a candy store. He must have had over 100.000 comics, categorized with thumbnails and zipped files. Even though I only had DSL I managed to get complete runs of Mad, Fantastic Four, Eerie, Vampirella, Archie to name just a few. My only regret is not having an interest in DC at the time. I could have gotten Superman. As is always the case, corporate lawyers managed to shut him down. To Boutje, wherever you are, the kid in me thanks you.

This was a dissenting justices opinion regarding the spacing on Michigan's abortion amendment text. Another way of saying you need spaces to read the words. Good lord, spacing wouldn't help the average voter with understanding this gobblygook. Citing an academic he described as "the leading scholar on this topic," Viviano observed that "in Western scripts, spacial organization is a determinative element in the effect of different transcription systems on the cognitive processes required for lexical access and hence on the propensity to read orally or silently."
