OK, wondering: how is the difficulty rating for each individual game arrived at? There doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between the percentage who have solved it, and/or the time taken to solve, and the rating--eg. a game may be only solved by 2/3's of those attempting and still only have a '5' rating. What gives??

The easier levels are only easier "on average"! Level 10 games are strictly random. Level 9 games are the "same" as the level 10 games, but slightly tweaked to make them easier (a few of the smaller cards are moved closer to the bottom of the stack, to make them more accessible. Level 8 games are further tweaked to make them even easier. And so on, all the way down to level 1. Levels 11 & 12 are tweaked in the other direction, to make them more difficult. Only levels 5 thru 10 are dealt normally. To play one of the other 6 levels (1-4, 11-12) you have to use "Custom Mode". I hope that is helpful. Welcome to the Site! And, have fun. PS. "Game difficulty" has been discussed/explored in GREAT detail in other threads on this Discussion Board. PS2. The "winnable" variants are the same set of 32,768 deals as the corresponding regular variant, except that the "un-winnable" games are not dealt.
