Subject: lost game because lost contact with server

Sometimes while playing a game I get a message that I've lost contact with the server, I click OK, and it puts me back into the game some number of moves back from where I was. Just now, I lost contact with the server in the middle of a game, and it re-established contact and told me I'd lost the game. This kind of sucks because I was on my way towards winning it, and I had what is for me a bit of a streak going. Has anyone else had this problem before? Is there any recourse?

I just won a game and it told me I had lost it. I tried again, wondering if I'd just seen a win about to happen, and then quit. Once again it told me I had lost when all the cards were stacked in upper right. Something is amiss.

So I tried 2 more games and won them. Everything worked as it should. I noticed I had ben credited for the 2 games it previously said I had lost. I'm hoping you were credited with a win even though the strangeness was different.

I think it might be a very rare glitch. Sort of like having %-win > 100%. Which has happened surprisingly often, imo. For example, in 12x3: 32.... TitanicTony,... 2701,... 2701,... 0,... 2700,... 100.04%,... 1:54,... 839d. And in 12x4: 56.... packrat,.......... 5090,... 5090,... 0,... 5089,... 100.02%,... 1:59,... 2036d. This error is only obvious when the # of games won is > the # of games played. But, there must be hundreds (maybe thousands) more cases where one, or more, lost games conceals the error.

James, here is another example, which you might already know about: 9x4, sorted by %-win: 1... Rebecca1,............................ 10014,... 10014,... 0,... 10013,... 100.01%,... 5:41,... 1380d. 2... jamesblackburn-lynch,... 11923,... 11923,... 5,... 11923,... 100.00%,... 1:59,... 1:58. Apparently (occasionally), "something goes wrong" after the "win" is counted, but before the "game played" is counted.

Apparently it is also possible to have the "game played" counted, but not the "win". For example, in 13x2, I *know* that I never lost a game, but the stats show: 5... TitanicTony,... 26561,... 26561,... 0,... 40600,... 100.00%,... 1:43,... 923d. [Actually, 40599/40600 = 99.997537%, which Denny rounds up to "100.00%".] I'm afraid that we live in an imperfect world...

I certainly am familiar with Rebecca1's "luck." I will never pass her in percentage or Average Streak. (Look at that one...my average is higher than hers, numerically, but she is still above me, vertically.) But those all seem different than what jbening is reporting. None of those involve losing a streak. I would be very upset, say, if I lost a streak of 12000 games due to a glitch. If the streak is intact but the stats are wonky, like in your various scenarios, I'd still have my streak. Well...wait...in your 13x2 example, I guess you are saying you should have a streak of 40600? If so...that is exactly what I am worried about. James

James, yes, it should have been a streak of 40600. At about game number (streak length) 14039, suddenly my percent won was no longer 100%! If there were a backup of the my stats for that day, it might show that I hadn't lost a 13x2 game?? I have seen several cases where a big streak length is 1 less than the number of games played, implying that it was the 1st game played that was lost, which is, of course, possible, but highly unkikely. We are just "playing for fun", imo, so the glitches are not really all that important. I think I lost credit for more than 1000 games that I played after the "Auto-play glitch", and before Denny restored from a pre-glitch backup. C'est la vie...
