Message:I have a question. But first, I need to give a little background. 05/25/2019
I have been playing Freecell for probably 20 years. The most I have ever ‘streaked’ might be about 80. This has always been on the usual 4x8 (winnable?) starting at Level 5 & moving up the levels as I win. I’ve probably not gotten higher than Level 8 or 9. For at least the past 5-10 years, I nearly always replay any game I lose & I usually win it. Those that I have gotten frustrated with & finally just quit, who knows, I could have played it & won it before – I don’t keep track.
When I needed variation in the game, I did keep track for a short while; I started at game #1 & worked my way up as I won. I only got to game #135 before I started getting tired of keeping track.
Then I set the Level so that every game was at Level 10. Now, the most I have ‘streaked’ has been maybe 15. But what I think I notice is that even tho’ all the games are supposedly Level 10, it feels like the first several games are easier).
My question is 3-part:
a) Are the earlier ones really ‘easier’? (So how are the games’ difficulty rated, anyway?)
b) Is one always working against odds so that the more one plays & wins, the more one is likely to lose?
c) Is there a fatigue factor whereby the longer one plays in a sitting the more likely one is to lose due to brain-fatigue? (I still want to experiment w/ this & play, say, only 5 games w/ at least a 2-hr break before playing another 5).
d) Other ideas?
While I’m asking:
What’s the point of playing an ‘Unwinnable’ game?

Message:Difficulty level has been discussed a lot. Climate/weather analogy is good. See link below.

Message:How do you "set"? When you do Custom it's only individual games.
