Very nice time in the wide there calico! - Been a while losing so badly to you - are you busier with work during the Summer generally and not playing as many Tournies ? Or are you just not on as much as you used to be?

I've got a job that keeps me super busy now, so tournaments are hard to play with any sort of frequency. I'd like to play more, but I have so few days off anymore it's really hard. I'm playing in spirit though :D
That was some spirit in the Masters ck. It’s rare to get and win all the games. This time with just a few minutes to go!
Obviously, we all knew that last deal was winnable since I knocked it off much earlier in the tournament. Alas, I ran out of go juice after that one. Maybe I’d have been better off letting it go until later but I don’t think so. Instead, it seems old age is starting to catch up to me. .sigh
That's the first time that I have won 18 games in a lightning tournament - and I've played a few thousand! I'm pretty sure that I will not beat that.

But 18 always seems like a glitch in the matrix. I didn't even know I got 18 as I usually go down a single column of games at a time. I thought I had 17, I only realized after the fact that I had played a game in a new column without finishing another one.
FWIW, I thought about playing that Lightning but refreshed the current results and saw you were both already at 3 wins and just a few seconds apart (ck in first). Not going to jump into the middle of that dogfight - would have meant a double-glitch in the matrix 😉
Dr. B- I did the same thing with the spelunker, played for a bit then got stuck with ones I should have solved and looked at the board and once I saw you were playing I thought I'd not waste the next hour using my poorer solving ability.
Hah, I noticed vishna bailed too. It’s not like I’m that good. Especially lately as I’ve gotten older. The nasty 8x3 from the Spelunker was solvable but I couldn’t get close.
I'm getting worse as i get older too, my speed has dropped quite a bit and I am terrible at deadlie's and not a great solver, so for me it affects quite a lot. There are now so many nicks who are good at all 3 of those, it makes for winning tournaments a little harder.
I'll keep trying though!
I've been worried about slowing down as I get closer to 50. Did your playing abilities drop all at once or was it a gradual thing that you guys noticed over time?
(Note: this is not me saying you guys have fallen off, I'm just asking based on your comments, lol)
For me I think it was gradual in general- I think from about when I turned 50 (sorry calico!) But I've had a quite noticeable slowing when I turned 60, and lately it's like I'm in a brain fog! It's likely related to my lack of sleep and other health issues. You are considerably faster than most of us here and so take heart in the fact that even a gradual slowing for you will still keep you in the running for a very long time. I guess if you live long enough you may eventually play at the speed of us regular folk :O)
FWIW, I kept getting faster until I hit 66-67. But, I was coming from a different quadrant than both of you (the good solver, half fast player). I’m sure playing senior soccer 3-4 times per week has helped.
