Subject: Winning a stumper first try

Oddly enough, I had a 152/1 once - game #13000 - see below. Not trying to brag about it, just posting for posterity. And I remember watersmooth_silver getting similar stats on a 9x2 in a British Open once, which was in my view even more impressive because a) it was under tournament conditions and b) you only get one chance per game in British Opens.

First game of the day - those black 2s were giving me a headache but it was one of those where you had to ignore them and go around the houses hoping something would open up later, and thankfully it did.

Have had some nasty deals today, and this was another of them. Had the cursor hovering over the Quit button a few times.

The opening was easy enough, the staying focused was the hardest part.

A bit surprised by the stats on this one.

From the Threat, yummi won this game which was 0/29 when I got to it. At first glance it looks unwinnable but there is a way and I almost solved it myself afterwards. Congrats yummi for winning the Threat!

Got this one right at the start of a 6x5 All-in-One tournament:

Quite some time ago (when I was much better at streaking than I am today), I went through all of the previously un-won 6x4-5 deals between 1-1000 to see how many I could knock off.  At the end, I think there were something around 153 that still had zero wins so I figured that the percentage of winnable 6x4-5's was around 85%.  This was much higher than had been previously mentioned on the discussion board.  Well, thanks to using a solver, we now know that the actual percentage for 6x4-5's is almost 90% (89.77% to be exact).  Recently, I started to go back and look at the deals that eluded me those many years back.  I gave this one a shot and solved it first time:

I thought I had typed in the wrong game number given the time but it was clear by the stats it was correct.

Got it on replay: a surprisingly simple solution!

All the stars were lined up for this one! No way!

Thanks TT and Uberman. That must have been the highest Elo of any game I've won while streaking. (I don't keep track of that.)

I thought "paid" was some kind of autocorrect spelling error. I see what you mean now. Getting a .125 ELO boost when maybe it should have been 4 is pretty frustrating. Nice win regardless.
