i've only been here a short while and I only play 8x4 standard. I read in the instructions that games will progressively get harder. I've only played around 20 games and at this level the games are so easy I don't even have to think because I know if I do get in a pickle I can think my way out of it. A lot of the individual games I've played so far are so easy that 99.6% of players won. My guess is I will have to have win like 50 or 60 in a row before it gets tougher (say where players only win 60% of the games or less). I love the stats here and that is how I found the site because on another site where I was playing I won 56 in a row and I was wondering how that would compare to other people so I did a search on "what is the most freecell games won in a row". Anyway I love this site, just getting antsy waiting for the harder games....thank you

if you want a bigger challenge try 8X3, or custom 8x4 level 12
Thanks, mate! I'm thinking I'd better not get too cocky or one of these "easy" games might just trip me up plus there is no way of knowing exactly when the more difficult games will commence....I'm here to break the all time record, only about 20,500 games to go....hehehe.
Screaming, when I first started playing here (this past year) I wondered the same thing, as I’d been playing the MS version on expert so these at first seemed so much easier.
I will say, so many play the standard variant on here that it’s hard to make much impact in terms of score, so for that reason, and bc they seemed so easy, I started playing other variants. First I found 9x5s to be particularly fun to streak, but after a day of playing over 200, I didn’t notice they got any tougher. I think without customizing it’s supposed to or is at least random, idk. Still, it became fun to see how fast I could streak.
Then I finally realized how to use the custom feature that cellmate mentioned. And I started playing other variants, which was a challenge in itself but super fun to zone out on once you get the hang of em. Then I got into elo and now when I have an elo crash (currently in one after some daily comps) I know how to remedy by using custom levels on variants I’m good at.
Find a variant you like and are good at, or if you prefer to stick to 8x4, customize the level to 10 or above. Lvl 5 is gen easy imo, and 7-9 is medium, with 10-12 being harder. You’ll get more elo per win on higher lvls, depending on how often it’s played..8x4 is played a lot by many and actually I rarely play it anymore so idk if elo raise is good on high lvls or if you even care abt elo, but the challenge will be nicer :)
ps- also looking at scores and customizing menu options to show the highest all time daily for a variant, or yearly, etc, is fun. 20,500 games makes me tired just to think abt it. Also, how sad it’d be to lose at 20,499! (That’d be what I’d do- I always flub when it counts most)
