I’m a big fan of the music from the 1960’s. There’s lots of drivel but then there’s a huge set of songs that seem to be timeless. One song that I keep coming back to is “Eve of Destruction”. Doesn’t it apply as much today as it did 50+ years ago. I’m not sure why it isn’t more highly regarded.
(On a separate front, it seems like a rap. Am I missing something here?)
Seems to me that that one's pretty highly-regarded - at least among those who knew it originally. I hear it from time to time. And certainly a classic.
Wow..."Ball of Confusion". What a great song. I remember being so proud of myself when I could actually keep up with the words as I sang with it. I never thought about the 'rap' connection, but in a way it can kind of fall into that category.
And yes, "Eve of Destruction" is timeless.
Here's 9 1/2 minutes of a live 1970 performance of a 1969 release. Trippy dippy hippie music and what a timeless classic! Whatever happened to It's A Beautiful Day? It's a beautiful song - White Bird
