Message:Credit where credit is due? I attended a seminar this week and the keynote was Terry Jones, the founder of Travelocity. He used the Dopeler Effect in one of his slides to sum up the dotcom boom. I don't know if he invented the phrase or gave proper credit, but I thought I would mention it.
My vote for Dopeler of the Year is the moron who was trying to put a hole through his wall this week to install cable. After several unsuccessful attempts, he got his gun and blasted two holes. After which, he called to his wife outside to see if it worked. She didn't answer and you can guess the rest. Yup, he killed her. A Darwin award for sure, except he didn't kill himself. I feel terrible for his two kids (who were also outside playing at the time).

Message:I can understand their point. Isn't it true that, if a fire truck has to drive 25 mph (40 kmph) to a fire, the fire itself will delay raging out of control? It will instead have mercy on the inhabitants, and not consume the structure, pending the (eventual) arrival of the fire apparatus?
