i can't believe that darkosi's 48 only got a 25th place on the daily high list. the best is 146!!!!!!!!!! i had a hellatime getting 15, but i'm glad i got introduced to a new variant, one that would be completely uninteresting to me as a non winnable (squinchy glare at tn). congrats to darkosi and anyone in the top ten for that matter. a good time was had by some.

For quite a while, ix, this was my favorite variant (as of course, the 'regular' flavor). Play it awhile (either way) and you'll dig it. (semi-squinchy glare back) I remember when Arheus did the 146, only 3 months ago today. I thought I made mention of it on this board, but can't find it. Maybe it was Arheus doing something *else* extraordinary I commented on. He's a force... BTW, the 'regular' flavor of 9x2 daily record is 100, by Datrox-3, about 7.5 years ago.

Thanks for the rest TN, I work weekdays, have a short time in the morning to play a few games, but by the time I return home in the evening I'm usually burnt toast. Had a little extra energy last night and got a nice run going without making the tired mis-click that got you.

Yeah, I was "burnt toast". I didn't have much time during the day to play, and when I did I was hurried and not playing distractedly (i.e., horribly), so last night was my one real chance. As a sidenote, I did encounter a couple of games that caught my attention. I don't know if any of you all do this or not, but very often, as soon as I win a game, I try to predict what it's winning percentage is, before I look at that data that Denny provides. The vast majority of the time, I'm pretty dang close, although that's far from universal, of course. Yesterday, as I was just beginning my last attempt, I played 15914-5, and tore right through it like it was an easier-than-most level 5 game. I was totally shocked to see it was only 8/87 (9.2%). (I had guessed 90%.) Still don't know how that happened. Then later on, I had what I thought was a terrifically hard game, 23532-7, which I won, but I was the first to have played it. Don't know if I just got off on the wrong foot, or if it's really that hard.

Naw, I'm done. However, before that, I also lost a game yesterday - the 2nd game I played after figuring out that I was supposed to be playing the winnable versions. 24797-5. After my loss to it, it's now 8/126 for 6.35%. Hardest game I saw yesterday, I think, although there were some others that required some thought. I really think that one should be moved up to level 6 or 7. Oh, btw, though, my streak of 17 in the regular 7x4s *is* still intact. lol... Thanks!

That's a crazy small amount of points for everybody to possibly lose next week. Did something happen back at that time? Update: I just checked, based on what followed 4x10 in last cycle, and it was 13x0, and a lot of folks played that one, including many in the above list. I finished second, which should be 30 points, before normalization; is that correct? And just out of curiosity, I see that sweetleaf's running average is 11.764. To my knowledge (and I'm not going to go back and look), that's the first time that nick has played. So 35/11.764 ~= .33. Does that mean that ~.33 is the normalization factor you're using, based on your calculations, free@last? I'm not thinking deeply on this, just idle wondering.... And as always, thanks for your efforts.

TN, the total points for all 10 types is 17*35=595 so for any week the amount you'll lose is based on where you placed score * game weight / 5.95. sweetleaf won 5x8 so 35x2/5.95 is where the 11.764 comes from.

I think Tony stole a bit of my formatting thunder but, to answer your question for the WWC, it works like this: 35 points for 1st place X weighting factor (1-2.5) X 10 and truncate the decimal. So easy weeks max is 350, tough weeks is 875. I think Tony does same for SSC (sans weightings, of course).

Well....that's what I thought he might have done, but I couldn't get the math to work for that, either. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... Pepsi_Max was 4th yesterday, which should be a base of 23 points, correct? Then 23x2 = 46. 46x10 = 460. As I've been interpreting your weightings, the only way to score 875 would be to finish first in a week that has a 2.5 "degree of difficulty", i.e., only the 6x5 or 4x10. That would give 35x2.5 = 87.5 87.5x10 = 875. But above, Pepsi_Max neither finished first yesterday, nor were we playing a 2.5 degree of difficulty variant. For me, yesterday, seems as though my score would have been 26x2x10 = 520. And how could Tagkag also score 475 for yesterday (as it shows for me, too)? Lawrence55Dee should be 30x2x10 = 600, and yet he seems to be only credited with 200. Craziest of all, Saloth_Sar won the thing, which should have been worth 700, and yet I see 0 above. In fact, Saloth_Sar also won the week before, but seems to also have been given a 0 for that week, too. (Should be 35x1.5x10 = 525?) Either there's something I'm not getting, or something very wrong about the above tabulation. Not complaining - just trying to ferret out errors if they seem to be there.

TN, take a look at the top of each column and you'll notice they are not week by week, as Tony does his, but always 13x0 through 4x10. Your calculations are correct if you look at the 7x4 column.

Ah...I see..... As expected, something I wasn't getting. I don't like this new format at all, then, as one cannot see any trends. (Well, technically, I guess one can, but it's harder.) I like the columnar tabulation form (I think), but don't see the point in moving away from a chronological presentation. free@last, I owe you an apology. I was confusing your work done for the WWC with what Tony has done for the SSC. The trending I was referring to was the chronological week-to-week progression of scoring, with the most recent week's results appearing on the far right column, not counting the totals column. And that's for the SSC, which has many different variants that crop up. For the WWC, and your work, there are only 10 different variants, so it fits much better the way you have it. That said, it still makes more sense to me to have the most recent results closest to the totals column, but as I *should have* said earlier, it's *you* who are doing all this work, so whatever you prefer works for me. It's probably not simple to change the alignment from week to week, so assuming that's the case, I can see the advantage in having a 'standard' format. Please accept my apologies for confusing the two things. And as always, truly, thank you for your efforts.
