Old Spice dude is Deon Cole (a standup comedian) of Blackish. Where grandma played by Jenifer Lewis (a former Bette Midler Harlette) often referred to Jesus as Black Jesus. Funny the two shows came out the same year 2014.

I occasionally post to help keep track of stuff ingested...keeping in mind what's in the system, possible contraindications...(the stuff above of course just rather generic)...admittedly, things occasionally need go un-posted, but that's the private stuff kept in forefront mind, always of note, no minutiae (albeit minutiae noted due problems one can run into viz a viz (banal) OTC stuff (even)...

Thread's title almost seems to beg for it (I do believe you yourself dubbed it); I just figure it's fitting enough to screw around on...

User: TNmountainman

That's actually a "thing".  And perhaps rightly so, I've concluded as I've lived longer.  Consider other critters.  A dog doesn't need to do calculus - or even algebra.  A chimpanzee doesn't need to know how to drive a car (at least not quite yet).  Point being..............and I write this a bit hesitatingly..............there are intellectual and temperamental differences among peeps, allowing them to be 'suited' for a wide range of jobs/skills.  Terribly generalizing here.............there are jobs best held by those who are 'happy' being only 'so' mentally complex or crafty.  The world needs a few *non*-Einsteins doing less intellectually-challenging things.  I have met a *very* few such folks.  I'm not saying I fully agree with their thinking, really, but I understand it.  Not everybody on this site can be CubicSprock or jimmyp, for example.  How boring would that be?

Well, regarding mere rote knowledge (albeit (for me) higher/profound (ha, pun!)) *juxtaposed* to greater craftiness, problem solving skills, et cetera, I'd OF COURSE prefer the latter...but, if I can't get more than the former, well, we all have to (relatively) settle, I suppose...

...though maybe the paper you cited is a 21st century road on the way to a smarter Mankind?

(Brew'll wait until long-term side effects are exposed, though).

Let's be honest: anybody with huge rote knowledge sounds way way genius...like, could that dude who recited π to thousands of decimal places do anything truly constructive? Or, was it all a mere sideshow?

Well, there are those folks called "savants", who 'science' has a hard time classifying on the intelligence scale.  Was the guy Dustin Hoffman portrayed in "Rain Man" "way way genius"?  Also.....there is *some* evidence on *some* of the strategies in that paper; just not gonna identify or promote them.  But there are definitely quite a few peeps who claim positive benefit from some of the so-called "smart drugs".  Sadly, as you're probably aware, IQ levels in the U.S. are now falling, with "the usual suspects" taking the blame.

And I see you have posted the EROWID site in the "Health" thread.
