Just sitting here in Melbourne Australia listening to the relentless rain. This la Nina is in its 3rd year which means rain for eastern Australia and drought for the eastern Pacific. All our dams are at 100%, catchments are saturated so it doesn't take much rain to cause flooding. Sydney is copping it much worse.
Funny that it was only 2 and half years ago, Jan 2020, that we had those bushfires.
On a personal level my stormwater drains are either broken or clogged and I can't get a plumber for love or money. They're all booked solid for weeks. So tomorrow I've got to get out in the mud in my gumboots and dig them up to fix them myself. I'm getting too old for this shit.

I once had to go out in a driving rain and get into the pond to unplug a 12-inch pipe so the pond wouldn't flood over. The plug was a propane tank at the time. It pours out into a little creek. Also, another pond. It's quite an ecosystem. Sorry for your flooding.

The top half of the bottom of the propane tank, (now a five-gallon bucket), was cut out so that it was/is fine 99% of the time. When the water reaches halfway up the plug, it self drains. And it could/can be easily removed from above, without having to get into the water. Clear as mud, right? But there was a flood going on where the water had risen above the plug, and the plug was impossible for me to get out of the pipe, with me on the bank above it. So I had to get in and wrestle with it. Lol. That was the worst it ever was.

Tn, the Seattle-area is in the same boat. At our house we have had about .1 inches of rain since late June. Even our drought-tolerant plants are stressing out since the infamous Seattle rainy season normally starts kicking in by now. Instead of rain, about every other day or two the AQI jumps to 150 or higher as the air blows in smoke from the persistent wildfires to the East. .sigh

I see your Tennessee is ranked at No. 6 compared to our lowly No. 13...perhaps you talk with the coaching staff at Tennessee and convince them to give up a few spots in the poll just to make other teams feel better about themselves!

I'm not a Tennessee fan, really. If it were as simple as them 'representing' my state, that'd be ok. But I can't stand all the folks around here who wear a bunch of orange, count down how many days 'til kickoff, know the names of the players girlfriends and dogs, etc., etc. - many with no connection with the university or Knoxville at all. They just seem like 'joiners', hangers-on, peeps that just want to be in some sort of club or clique. I kinda like to see them lose sometimes just so those kinds of folks will get their hearts broken. They make it too big a part of their lives. However............that said, it's been awhile since they've had a national championship, so they're sorta due to have some success. But not as due as Vanderbilt or Wake Forest, for example. Or Tulane. As I said, spread it around. I think it helps the game to have the talent levels closer so that more teams and states have a chance at a bit of success. Sort of a socialistic viewpoint, I guess. I hate the concept of "the rich get richer", altho even the Bible (sort of) alludes to that. (Not meant to be a religious statement, Denny.) Also, that does *not* apply to those who actually went to school there, or even just live in Knoxville or close by, as a borderline concession. They've sorta got eminent domain (or something like that), like you do living close to Tallahassee. THAT said................as a strong lover of mountains.........I have to be against teams from the flatlands, all other things being equal. "It's complicated." LOL.
Again, I've got *nuthin'* against the Seminoles. In fact, because they've chosen a Native American mascot, I like that a lot - for the same reason I've always been a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, and Washington Redskins. Now two of those life-long affiliations are gone. (Hard to feel sorry for the Redskins' organization, tho.)
As I said, I was just jerking your chain, connecting those *real* Native Americans in S.D. and what they're going thru with burning clothes to stay warm, with your complaining about it being SEVENTEEN degrees down there. The more Fla St. gear you've got (and I just bet you've got a decent amount of it) the warmer you can be with your fire. BTW, it's a flat zero here at the moment.
