At age 8,I was naughty and went into my parents bedroom, and looked in daddy's closet. i found a big box, tied neatly with a shinny, big, red satin bow! I sneaked to the dark side of my dads and moms double bed, and untied the ribbon..... In side was a soft brown teddy bear. I knew it wasn't for me , ! was scared... (I knew it wasn't for me, but I snuggled it to my skinny body) Daddy used to call me "Skinny , Marinky <Dinky , Dink" . Well being more curious than noble at age eight, I remember that I would go downstairs and dance around in the living room with Teddy Bear. I knew mommy would see me from the kitchen by the placement of reflecting mirrors in our Victorian Living room. at .She had really conjured having eyes at the back of her head.by the time Was 4 It was a time before Open concept living room and kitchens. BUT I knew she would see me. but I figured she would see me having such a happy time with MY NEW TEDDY, that she might let me have it. Well, as things go astray around Christmas time, so did my wishes. I was told to go to my room and to stay out of my parents room. Bah Humbug ! On Christmas morning ,after forced eating of scrambled eggs, before opening presents, we sat under the tree to open our gifts. My sister opened TEDDY BEAR and I stared at him., But then, I opened a huge heavy box, with SIR GALIHAD, a huge heavy white Stieff polar bear , who had been purchased on Christmas Eve from J L HUDSONS. department store in Detroit. Mom had gone back to to the store to get an other bear like TEDDY BEAR, but alas , no more bears. Mom bought the Stores display store..from the from window. SIR GALAHAD is still with me and knows all my secrets1 And Gallihad still growls!

My parents bought me an electric train but I had to disassemble it and put it away every time I was finished playing with it -- and the house would sometimes smell (probably from "ozone") see the search URL shown below ... or ... can I include it -- that URL -- in the body of this message? If so, then the search ["results" page] URL is: (never mind ... that apparently is not allowed ... so just ... see the link at the end of this message) . and the (search results) "HIT" that I thought was apropos, said ... this: Does electricity have a smell? - Drax htt ps://w ww. drax. com › technology › does-electricity-have-a-smell Jul 20, 2018 - “The smell electricity emits is the contents of the gasses created when ... It's the same ozone gas that makes up the lower layer of the earth's ... and ONE of the reasons why I had to clean up [the living room] afterwards, was because that exact same space (in the middle of the living room, -- the front room of the house) was also where I would sometimes build stuff with tinker toys or an "erector" set. I also did play outside, sometimes (in fact, a lot) ...including little league baseball. I also had a bike, which was kinda cool, because I could go almost anywhere. (But I usually never went very far -- like downtown -- unless I took the bus; ... which, at that time, cost 0.07 for kids.) When I was first learning to ride a "two-wheeler", I fell down a lot ... partly because I tended to practice on a driveway, and the turns were so tight that I would sometimes not be going very fast. Eventually I learned that going fast is usually the best safeguard against falling down. ... which brings me to the fact that, until I bought some for my son, I NEVER owned any of those elbow and KNEE pad thingies, which allow you to fall down galore and live to tell. I sure could have used some of those, when I was falling down a lot ... when learning how to ride a bike (at low speeds). My son wanted them because ... all of the other boys on our block (who owned roller blades and hockey sticks) had them. And ... I do not remember how much they -- (the "elbow" and "knee" pad things) -- set me back (now much they cost); but to be honest, it was worth it, even if they weren't "on sale".

I had comic books of I guess all the super hero. Classic ones like Superman and spiderman team up. But one of my favorite was the super speed race between Superman and The Flash.

Thanks, smelly! I have too. Brings back lots of fond memories of the times before inter-active toys and screen-time games. I want to hear more from others. Katya, I vaguely remember the walking doll that you talked about. I may have known a friend who had one or just had seen it advertised in a catalog. Geeze, remember, guys, how we would sit there for literally hours paging through the Christmas catalogs picking out the toys that we wished for; knowing that we would never get them? I had two sister-girlfriends whose grandmother was fairly wealthy. Granny would buy the girls the cool toys and I would get to sometimes play along with them. They both had Barbies with entire wardrobes. I was too embarrassed to take my now headless Barbie (in another thread here I talked about how my brother yanked the head from my Barbie while we were sitting on the steps outside playing. It was a few months after Christmas. He took the head to school and put it on a pencil top where the eraser was. I thought that was hilarious so I didn't mourn my headless Barbie). Although the nun immediately took the head and dropped it into her desk drrawer of no return. Ah, what fun back then!

No demurrer here! You've got it! It's yours, smelly_cootiefied_fence_post! Wiff-ty occurred to me, but it's nearly as bad. I need a new moniker! One that passes the smell test! Ooops, it's too late!! By a mere day or two!!
