I just got a helpful phone call from Certified Microsoft Technician "George" in Minneapolis who wanted to help me get a virus off the "personal computer" he somehow knew I had. Do you need his phone number?

Todesign - I'm sure you're having a problem but it's not us. We use a generic ad service and I haven't had any problems with them serving bad juju. Read the link below. It's more likely on your end or I'd be hearing about it from others here.

Denny, is that a possible attempt by a hacker to get into a persons computer. I've had a phone call on a few occasions that they say they are from Microsoft and have detected a virus on my computer. I usually test them by saying that I have an apple computer and they hang up. If it was legit, they would say, no, are system shows that you have a Windows computer.

The last time one of those called me I was testy. Which, since I deployed an expletive-filled diatribe mentioning both him AND his mother, is a bit of understatement. I'm not naive enough to think that'll put a stop to it, though.

They haven't bothered me lately, but when they do, I become all concerned then take lots of time, "going to my computer, starting it up, rebooting, interrupted by a visitor at the door, rebooting again" etc. I can take up 45 minutes or more of their valuable time in my "ignorance" of computers. Time is money to them.
