Subject: HotStreak "start over"

There was an update where any game quit under 10 seconds doesn't count on stats.  It looks like that was removed, so I guess these are counting for stats, but not ELO.  Still can't see any logical reason for this other than trying to find a game where aces /other cards went home on start. Not too likely for level 9. Seems like a language issue in trying to figure out the explanation given.

There can be some measures/ways to prevent that kind of "quick" losses.

- There can be an upper limit for the number of tries

- There can be an upper limit for total number games played in a day

- There can be a time penalty

Personally I would go for the time penalty. For each "first" game lost less than say 10 (5?) seconds, take off say 30 seconds of 30 minutes.

Or keep the clock ticking and do not start from scratch (if no game has been won yet) and slowen the pace by forcing them to wait for say 5 (10?) seconds to start a new game (maybe with some sort of warnings).

Just click through and this will fix itself. Sometimes it does. This time not so. Its just stuck.

When youve got a weird layout youre stuck. Let me tell you how to get free. You either keep going until its gone or you click until it rights itself. Bad deals dont go away.

Sounds like a software / hardware issue. Maybe a screenshot and someone can figure it out.

Not sure how to show it to you. I will describe it. Not one but two floaters. Cant click my way out of this one. Play all you want but you cant shake the floaters. Theyre immediately viewable by the one at left. The other only reveals itself when playing because its at top of third stack from right. You can play just cant finish. Annoying. Ive always been able to just click them out. And they always occur when streaking on the 30-minute daily,especially the faster,easier streak types.                                             This one wont clear at all,so I will switch browsers to play.

As with all problems, what type of computer? Operating system? Browser? What have you tried from the Problems page?

And when they're asking for a screenshot, just do a Google search for something like "windows 11 take screenshot". Then you should be able to just paste it into this chat.

For example, I'm on Windows 11, I do "hold Fn key and hit Prt Sc key" and then from the little popup select the middle thing for just the application and then click on the browser window. That puts the screenshot in the paste buffer. Then paste (Ctrl V) into a discussion post.

You can also leave a problem game and I can take a look. But it looks like you're not in a game right now.

Really nice new record for 9x2 - 9.  24 consecutive games won in 30 minutes for jimmyp.

Jaw dropping.  Around 10 is the most I could possibly in my wildest dreams.  Most likely 4 maybe 5.

Wow, really impressive - even by jimmyp standards.  One of his wins was a 14% deal won in 1:37.  If you aren’t familiar with his speed and solving skills, check out his 8x4 stats.

That's ridiculous.  I think only TitanicTony can come close to matching his blazing speed.

I was surprised that one was only 14% as it was hard but not that hard. Some of the others felt harder. There was one I was sure I had lost so I just began moving cards until I couldn't and then something opened up.

Congratulations to Uberman for the new record on 5x6 -1 of 27 wins on 1 try. Unfortunately that may fall in the same day on try number 37  by another player. Something just seems wrong with this.

Update: looks like it held. They only matched the old record of 24. congrats

Second edit: Looks like they are still trying at the last moment but lost up to 42 tries now and have less than 30 minutes window on another try :)

Thanks rbw. According to cellmate's solver stats, it looks like there are only 67 unwinnables, but I imagine there are a LOT of tricky games despite only being Level 1s. As for the multiple attempts, I'm pretty sure RSI would force me out after about the fifth attempt of a quasi-clickfest, so I was lucky to get a decent score in early doors!

Interesting, my mouse hand was numb on my attempt. Maybe I would have had one more without that because the clock ran and I needed another 30 seconds. The player trying to pass already had a second place before the 24 finish, so it was obvious they were trying for 1rst.

Definitely some tricky games. Most were easy but a few had 2's and 3's buried which is probably why the 40+ (340 game) attempt player always lost a game each try.

There can't have been too many times when a player pulled a 2.5x multiplier on the rest of the field, but aschdog did it yesterday. Stellar win.

Almost quit on the first game of today's Hot Streak - have got no idea how I solved it...
