If you look at my streaking page in the scores the variant I've played the most is 9x0. I have current streaks in 12x0 and 13x0, but I'm not listed. What are the criteria?

Message:I think it's active streaks, roo. Like I said in a previous post, it'd probably be better if, for these, the scores reflected the highest streak attained for the current year, or something. Although I suspect the majority of people won't go near them as you generally have to play a whole bunch of them just to even get one victory on the board. Plus there's the thing about them being an ELO minefield...

You need at least three active streaks in any of them or need to have a top-3 (or podium) position in anyone of them.

Message:Thanks Hop. I played an 11x0 and made the listing. Just tried 8x0 for the first time and played two games. Not surprisingly both were played for the first time and I lost about 0.140 Elo in both. However both seemed to give a chance of being winnable. I don't expect that to last.

Message:There's no difference between active and current streaks, but what I proposed was some sort of table to reflect the highest streaks reached during the year, regardless of whether they were active or not. Hop's site does give you the opportunity to do this anyway. Doesn't solve the ELO 'problem' though!

Message:ALL of the things Uberman states above in his two posts are exactly on-target. I would be shocked if the risk/reward elo "equation" for 8x0s and 9x0s in not fairly negative. But that's just a guess, with no empirical data.

Message:Good timing Hop, thanks. I just lost my 13x0 streak at 49 to an unwinnable game. I don't understand why I plummet all the way down to 37 points but as soon as I win one again it goes back up to 59 apparently. I guess it's enshrined in the constitution! :)

Message:Red numbers mean, that variant will age off before the next batch run (i.e. Friday 2 AM server time). If you hover them you should see the time left.

Message:I have a feeling that the interest in playing 8x0 and 9x0 has increased. I'd like like play too but I don't want to lose some points to unwinnables with low ELO points.

Message:I got lucky in that my next 13x0 was a winnable! I think the variant where there's now scope for improvement is 12x0, but I might just leave that for next week.
8x0s aren't for the faint-hearted, obviously, but I was surprised to see that there are only 9 players that have officially recorded a win. Oded only needed 5 tries to get his!

Total individual games won are now 56 with an extra 12 wins spread among them.
I still think that's better odds than the 4x4.

Message:I won another two games *on replay only* while chasing for my first one that counts as streaking.
They were 8x0 21649-5 won on my 54th play after 5 replays and 22032-5 on my 125th play (another 5 replays). Then a long haul to win 26815-5 first go on my 309th play.
I'll need to find another one this week.

Message:I played it four times red, but can't work out how to clear two columns. Column 1 needs to be kept short because of the high 2H and better placed 5D.

Message:Job done after sorting out my dipsies! Now 1/21. You have to work on sending spades home up to the 8.
The 9C needs to be on col 1 so that the 9S can be released easily. On the way a bit more doodling is done at the top of col 8. I reached this position about play 17 but it's still tricky at the end because the 10S needs releasing too. However on the winning play I moved something by mistake and it all fell apart!
When playing 8,9 and 10x0s I like to replay games which look winnable because it adds to the list of them. Thanks red!
