My quotes are for the most part about 30 years old. And yes there are some vaguely political ones in there. Let me know when you see something genuinely contentious and I'll scrub it. I still think recent Clinton one is funny tho. And I like the one where Stephanopolous says "the president has kept all the promises he intended to keep."

Personally I like most of the quotes you use and I don't mind if you keep them all. Most of the political quotes are generic enough and funny enough to make most people at least smile, which is good. Remember, you won't be able to satisfy all the people all the time. There are people with very thin skins that will complain about just every thing. Your policy about no political discussions on the Discussion Board is right, just leave the daily quotes alone.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't think most of those are even really political at all even if they deal with a politician.

I agree with MrFixit and ddoss. Quotes from years gone by are good humor, really non-political in comparison to today's politics, and if you don't remember history, you're bound to repeat it. The quotes are a part of history.

I think it's virtually impossible to always be "politically correct"! I know this is a game site & not a government organization or NFP or whatever. I'm happy for quotes to stay because they are always short & take a few seconds to read. I quite happily ignore the ones I don't like.

I have never posted to any of the discussions, but I'm inspired to weigh in this time in defense of what you're defining as political quotes. I'm happy to be in the company of reasonable people who appreciate and want to keep them. Please do. Sometimes they make you smile - a good thing. Sometimes they make you think - even better!

I'm all for keeping political jokes. Newer ones are welcome to me. We all have to develop our ability to laugh at our own political views. Life is brighter if we can laugh at ourselves. That's true whether you march with the red team or the blue team -- or somewhere offsides, which is where I am [usually laughing at them both].

MeJ53 - now let me get this straight. You just ignore and move on?!?! Wow, it would have never occurred to me.

Didn't realize you were picking up the quotes from the frequent few to the discussion board. Laugh a little, cry a little and then fuel the addiction!! I've quit coffee more times over the years than stopped playing. Just sayin'

Keep the political quotes. Many of the reasons why have been covered by other commenters. One I haven't seen elsewhere is simple: if someone is so wound up that they can't find humor in a mild joke at their expense they have much deeper problems than scrubbing a game site's intro page will solve. And three cheers, four maybe, for evilgal's comment. Thinking is such a lost art.
