The ones I lose most often are the ones that have never been lost. That might be because often I'm trying acrobatic moves & stuff, and don't really give a rat's butt about the numbers. We're all different & Idk why a supposedly smart person would think any differently.

I don't chase elo, but obviously can't help but see it after each game.  Doesn't this seem a rather absurd penalty?  (And yes, I did actually spend that much time looking at, and trying to decipher it.)  And shouldn't that be moved up to climate 9, 10, or 11?

Can somebody please 'splain what *this* game is doing in climate 5?  I could see from jump street that this was no climate 5, but it was way worse than that.  It sits at #10 lowest winning percentage among winnable climate 5s.  One of 29 with a winning percentage below 1%.  andaronjim where are you?!?!?

Because it fitted the level 5 algorithm!

Think of it this way - a lot of 7x4 level 5 games are not winnable. But if all winnable games are lined up in ascending % won, this one is likely to be the first of them. (Edit - well not quite!) 

So it's hard, but "easier" than those which cannot be won.

All true, of course.  (And of course I had looked at that boundary when I added up the 29 of them with less than a 1% win rate.)  But then clearly the algorithm is wrong, right? (I say that smirkily, but you get my point, I think.)  Further.............one *could* argue, sort of existentially, that an unwinnable game is 'easier', because a) there's no true loss, as it was an impossible task; and b) often/sometimes those are clearly unwinnable - sort of like you trying tons of 8x0s, altho two or so orders of magnitude less so. (That's related to "a", but slightly different.)

As I suspect you already know, this was yet another of my periodic goofs on andaronjim - "the gift that keeps on giving", as it were.  That said, his frustration has occasionally plagued us all.  So.............looking deeper............we've known all along, or *almost* all along, that Denny's algorithm 'works' (except for the well-known issue of climate 5s being harder than climate 6s 😆).  As he himself has noted, he was surprised how well it worked for the seemingly minor tweaks in his deals.  Credit to him on that, for sure.  But it also apparently wasn't perfect(???) - which we could all take different philosophical stands on.  Should any *winnable* 7x4 climate 5 game be literally winnable (meaning by non-aliens)?  Should they at least be won by 2% of attempts?  Etc., etc.  Those questions will of course remain unanswered, as the site simply can't get that granular.  If AI had been available back then, perhaps Denny could have used it to incorporate more 'control' on such things.  But then we'd lose the fun of andaronjim (and others), would we not?

I don't know andronjim, algorithm or elo gain or loss. This game is fairly easy if one doesn't succumb to the temptation of sending aces twos and threes home early. More than 450 attempts including a dozen or so of mine were of this tendency. Once I realized it didn't work tried a different analytical approach. Except for two players before me others didn't bother. 

With a little manoeuvre I had two eights of different colours available and cleared column one whereafter the game almost solved itself. 

After all the prattle I would concede that the solution may not be that apparent.
