Nothing like playing six hours of 4x6-5 to finally get a streak of 2. Interesting variant. 27% winnable (allegedly) but of those, I think about 35-40% would require an hour or two of study while keeping track of 30-50 moves to win.

Niiiiice, Dr,B! Congrats on being first to 2000, and on having the commitment to get a 2 in the 4x6s. That's interesting about the win percentage - it actually has a better percentage than 9x0s, and I usually think nothing of trying for a 2 streak in that, even if it does take a hour or so. But as you say, the 4x6s are generally harder because there are more options. Might have to give it a whirl at some point.

Thanks Uberman. Once I got to 16 in 8x2, I could click on my name in the standings and see that a streak of 2 in 4x6 was going to get me over the 2K mark so that became my focus. Having the Elo ratings for the 4x6 deals pop up (after a loss) is an eye opener because a large percentage of them show to be winnable. I'm just not sure for many of them how to pull it off.

I imagine if anyone got to 3 in 4x6 it'd be extremely difficult to beat the overall score, assuming they'd put a little effort into the rest of the variants, obviously. Wow Uberman. Congrats on cracking the 3k barrier. I got close early last week but came back from a vacation wanting to play every 8x2 in 90 seconds or less. Sometimes I’d make it work with one of those 25% or lower games but overall it didn’t work out too well 😢 and my Elo drop of close to 100 points confirmed it.

Anyway, thanks Dr. I too was playing far too quickly with the 10x0s recently and must've lost 100 points myself (not that that really bothers me) but also I stupidly forgot about my then current streak of 2 in 4x6s and started a new session thinking I was on zero, and promptly lost it, having to start the grind all over again. But I knew I'd probably never have another chance to get to 5 in the 5x5s for a long time, so had to go all out.

........all of which prompted me to go look-see what the record is. Apparently.....it's 7. Or is it 20?!? On the regular "Scores - 5x5" page..............it's 7, with 6 different players having reached that mark. However.............if one looks into the Valley of the Kings..........................it shows "Ragnar2" rang up a 20 on 1/30/20. I'm assuming(?) that's not correct. Do I very, very faintly remember some sort of stats glitch around that time that caused some spurious recordings??

Yes, I think you're right. There were a few around the same time in 2020. bourne1 in 10x0 and An-onymous in 7x3 spring to mind. If you notice, neither of these players shows up on the All-time lists.

On the flip side, about a week ago I got dealt not 3; not 4; but 5 winnable 4x6 deals in a row. Ah, if only I could have won them all. An opportunity to really post a high score. Alas, I only managed to win the first and the last. The one thing I can say about seeing the game Elo ratings is that it is clear that a large hunk of the winnable 4x6 deals are of the ilk where it may take (mortal players) 20 attempts or more to crack them.
