Pretty sweet. Setting the playback speed to 1.3X, as suggested by someone in the comments, kicks it up another notch.
Love me some resonator git-tar.

The link cellmate posted above is the second song on the incredible link I posted in the "old music" thread back in 2016. See last post from Oct. 19, 2016 - and the link still works. Over an hour of Lightnin', showing all his stylings. Good stuff:
Freecell.net - play online competitive Freecell solitaire
Or for those not wanting to jump thru that hoop (worthwhile if only for the big boss Wolf stuff immediately above it!):
Hi cellmate. Thanks for this thread. Today I searched my FB posts for "I'm blue" and everything I've posted on fb with the word blue came up. Lol. It was a lot, and fascinating to me. Lots of them are music posts I want to make a list of. This is something I posted 13 years ago! I might have posted it here too, I recall it was done in O Brother and I might have posted that too. Anyway it's Skip James Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues.

Thanks outskirts! i should also watch the movie
Despite several Sister Tharpe examples elsewhere on this site, I don't think(?) we've seen that one, cellmate, so thanks for that. Here's an expanded version that's got more 'stuff' in it:
Sister Rosetta Tharpe - Up Above My Head live [Colourised] 1964
Thanks Buzz, Ruthie... a new name to me. Came across this short feature...
NOTES IN TIME - Ruthie Foster
I'm gonna somewhat reluctantly put this gem here instead of in the "Old Music" thread, where most of our blues corpus lies, for vague reasons only - I guess recency bias(?). Really really strong stuff. Bloomfield, Kooper, and this new whippersnapper Johnny Winter:

And while we're on the JW channel........

I believe that's Jon Paris on the absolutely rock-solid bass. Not positive, but I think so.
And while we're *still* on the JW channel, here some good stuff with Dr. Mac:
And since this particular thread started off with cellmate throwing down some resonator:

I should have added that that ^^^ is apparently at least partly AI-generated. Best I can ascertain.....
How did you determine this? The clean sound is unparalleled for a remastered recording of the time; is that where AI is coming in? To clean up the sound?
Well..............two trains of 'investigation'. First of all, I was moderately suspicious because as someone who's fairly well steeped in the old blues masters, esp. the Delta ones, I was unfamiliar with him. I'm quite familiar with (the great North Mississippi artist) "Bukka" White, who's real name was "Booker" (and whose music I've posted on this site at least once or twice), and I was familiar (somewhat) with the late great (N.O., of course) piano player James Booker -- but had never heard of this particular artist. Which, to be fair, wasn't impossible, as we well know the problems a lot of those guys had getting recorded, etc. But I thought I'd investigate a bit further. And...................the site/guy ("Dumpster Grooves") that's producing a whole slew of such 'recordings' has kinda become a 'known' thing. And sure enough, they have a disclaimer on their site. And if one were to click on the "more" word (right above "Comments") in the link I provided, you'll find the same thing:
An extremely rare 1939 Delta blues recording, remastered from what is believed to be one of the few surviving 78 rpm discs.
Very little is known about Booker himself. Some say he cut this side in Memphis, others claim Clarksdale, and one old story insists he was paid for the session in actual biscuits. The truth is hazy - like most of the Delta.
What hasn’t changed is the sound: a raw voice, a steel-body guitar, and lyrics that walk that fine line between hunger and heartbreak. Was he singing about food, about love, or about something no preacher would approve of? That’s for you to decide.
Digitally remastered from shellac, with just enough crackle to keep its grit, this lost track captures the humor, sorrow, and strangeness of Depression-era blues. A small but unforgettable piece of history - equal parts tragic and tongue-in-cheek.
Note: Caveat Emptor. Human-written. AI-performed. Fictional artist. Real music.
I was torn between letting/not letting the cat out of the bag initially, but decided not to, letting each discover it on their own...............but then, as someone who pretty much believes in full disclosure, thought better of it and added the follow-up post.
I guess?? It's a bit muddled, I think intentionally. And I suppose it's up to each of us to determine what's "Real music", too. I suspect the pic is 'real' (from some unknown-to-us source), but who knows?
Recording artists being generated by AI. Live artists lip synching to pre-recorded tracks.
Does anyone really want this?
As you know.......we now live in a world of "alternate facts". "Go ask Alice.........".
Re Joplin: A great classic
I received among others, tapes of her to go with my 1971 graduation gift, a cassette tape deck. It was a surprise I didn't ask for anything.
Back to the other⬇️
Now google Otis Lee Booker and google dumpster grooves.
(And being a James Booker fan, I already know that his name should not have even been mentioned in connection with this.) ... (Or Bukka White)
Anyone not knowing how to fact check within the last 10 years is remiss remiss remiss.
Unless you're trying to draw attention to something else..........I think all this has been covered up above, with the original discussion.
As I/we suspected..................it's you who missed the discussion points earlier. There are online admonitions to "look before you leap", and "don't re-invent the wheel", but since you're (hopefully) not "remiss", I'll not bother to point those out. Altho "remiss" does sometimes seem to come back around and bite those who don't see it coming, I guess.
Uh, no. The obvious was not pointed out. So I did. And why get all offended? I was clearing things up for those who asked. Lol
Yo ignorance cannot be disguised with faux "expertise"
And getting nasty about it is certainly unattractive. I'm done. Blather on. I'll be in the listening chamber.
No need to keep going back and forth, so this is my last comment on it, for now at least, but yes - it *was* pointed out - and discussed. Your comments make it sound as if the truth of the matter hadn't been investigated, pointed out, and even debated. 2 weeks ago. But in fact all those had transpired - as the above record shows. And I'm not offended - I just wish Go, in her return, wasn't subjected to this. [And Go - and it actually hasn't been like this most of the time.]
I had to read this latest posts in this thread four times to comprehend the target(s) of outskirts's rage, and I am still uncertain. It seems to be you, TN, though others may be involved to not knowing whether or not a blues artist from the 1930s actually existed. I guess your unforgiveable sin, TN, was telling us your thought process.
Knowing that Dumpster Grooves exists just adds to my disgust of the state of fake music -- unlike the tracks that Hop gives us, Dumpster Grooves likes to keep the illusion alive for as long as possible. (I listened to TN's link again on quality headphones and was amused that they put in fake scratchy sounds to simulate old recordings.)
And for those few who still might be not fully getting it:
HOW Have I NEVER Heard Of This 5 FINGERED Guitarist From 1952?!!
I kinda ok with this Dumpster Grooves approach. They are up front about which parts are AI and which are not; most importantly that the song is original. Is that any different than the "The Rutles" or "Spinal Tap"? AI that is used to blatantly plagiarize and misrepresent and hijack revenues with no credit to the original artist is far more evil
I'm guessing you didn't watch the video I posted just above your post - which clearly points out that they are not (really) up front about it, and that profit is apparently the motive. And since the AI machine has been 'trained' on legitimate artists whose work is not being compensated, that's a form of plagiarism - and thus hijacking revenues. His point(s) are exactly what you're final sentence rails against.
Good reply, cellmate. Food for thought. I started taking AI music a bit more seriously when Hop clearly likes it, at least the stuff in his taste range.
I get the whole industry. There's creativity, hard-core use of technology, and an appreciation of the art. I gravitate toward musical forms I can see live, so the whole synthetic music doesn't do much for me. DJs perform live, and I was in the audience of a small venue when a local kid was crafting his dj trade. I don't like it, but many in the audience did.
So, yeah, there's a place for it. Not on my play list, but it's a big musical world.
"I started taking AI music a bit more seriously when Hop clearly likes it, at least the stuff in his taste range. "
Some of the AI covers are better than the originals or on par. And when I think so I save them in my local disk because they are very likely to disappear because of the copyright issues.
And for some original AI songs, I have a feeling that no human can come up with something like them.
Man, we're just starting. What we will see in the future?
TN, i had already seen the 5 fingered video, and the original he was reacting to, which i had also seen and suspected just due to the cover picture in a similar style as the Otis video.
I don't see how i'm disagreeing with him. That's exactly what humans, including that guy, have been doing all along... being influenced. Only difference is its now done by computer algorithms.
The more egregious stuff is described here... a music industry lawyer reacting to that guy reacting to another guy who uncovered some nasty behavior
Lawyer Reacts To Wings Of Pegasus - THIS is the BIGGEST musical fraud I've EVER seen
Sorry, cellmate, I'm having a hard time following her. First of all, she speaks too fast for this southern boy to grab it all. There's one particular word (used twice, I think) she hurries past that after about 10 listens I still can't get. And her incredibly annoying editing is terribly distracting. UNBELIEVABLY distracting. Not sure why she had to do that. Anyway, so far I've made it thru about 18 minutes of it, and best I can tell, she's *agreeing* with Wings of Pegasus - altho I'm not positive - and maybe just mostly?? Furthermore..............So, so far, I'm not sure what her (negative) points might be (relative to Pegasus's video), and I'm not sure what *your* reaction is. Are you siding with the fraudsters? Right off the bat, she appears to say that Pegasus is maintaining that making a cover is illegal. He's doing no such thing (altho he literally says that, he means by using Dion's voice as if it were your own, which is of course a different story), so she loses credibility for mis-characterizing his positions. He's not said that - and duh, if that were true then covers wouldn't be done.
I'm moderately familiar with copyright issues, as I've had some, as well as trademarks. (Altho in no way am I an expert.) And I've had close friends in the music bizness - in various guises. I think most with my background realize all the "fair use" allowances, parody allowances (altho sometimes that's in the eye/ear of the beholder), educational commentary, etc. And am plenty old enough to have closely followed all the BMI and ASCAP controversies from years past. Point being, this is not a novel issue to me.
I'm not sure I can get thru the whole 52 minutes of this. I may come back and edit these comments (and will so designate if'n I do).
Maybe we can "cut to the chase" of this if you were to very specifically say what you're objecting to about Pegasus's position - if indeed you are. Truly sorry; this has gotten too convoluted for me to safely know what she, and you, are trying to say. And I've been trying here for over an hour.....
I plowed through about 10 minutes.
There's a lot of this kind of stuff out there: Wings of Pegasus does a video (recorded in front of cool musical instruments) claiming some enormous fraud. The lawyer, who also has a YouTube channel, reacts to Pegasus with dripping sarcasm and heavy pronouncements while recording in front of her degrees mounted on the wall and swinging a gavel to remind you she is "holding court."
Meh.
Pegasus reacts to stuff to get clicks. She reacts to Pegasus to get clicks. Everybody is heavily credentialed, fully believable, blah blah.
Hard pass.
