Wow! The Lonely Bull has lyrics?! Who knew!?

When you're standing on the edge of nowhere

There's only one way up, so your heart's got to go there

Through the darkest nights to see the light shine bright

When heroes fall in love or war they live forever

'Cause this is a song for the lonely

Can you hear me tonight?

For the broken hearted, battle scarred

I'll be by your side

And this is a song for the lonely

When your dreams won't come true

Can you hear this prayer?

'Cause someone's there for you

Well love don't need a reason

She can pick you up or leave you bleeding

I've seen a strong man cry, I know the reason why

We all forgive, we all forget, we just keep believing

'Cause this is a song for the lonely

Can you hear me tonight?

For the broken hearted, battle scarred

I'll be by your side

And this is a song for the lonely

When your dreams won't come true

Can you hear this prayer?

'Cause someone's there for you

(Don't give up)

So let it find you

(Just hold on)

Wherever you may go

I'm right beside you

You don't have to look no more

You don't have to look no more, oh no

It's gonna be alright

It's gonna be alright

It's gonna be alright

This is a song, a song for the lonely

And that's not you only

Through the darkest night

You're gonna see the light

This a song for the lonely

When your dreams won't come true

Can you hear this prayer?

'Cause there's someone there

Can you hear this prayer?

'Cause someone's there

Can you hear this prayer?

'Cause someone's there for you

The original song didn't have lyrics; that came a year later when pop "artist", Jack Jones, recorded it. Not sure who wanted this version:
"The Lonely Bull", Jack Jones

Spanish, you ask? Sure:
"El Toro Solitario," Santy

How about in French with Petula Clark?
"Plaza de Toro", Petula

Here's you another blues fix - or two.  I learned - or more likely *re-learned* - something yesterday.  We're all familiar, I would imagine, with the epic 1977 version of this classic, but here it is just in case:

Muddy Waters - Mannish Boy (Audio)

What I learned/re-learned(?) was that the yelling off to the side was none other than Johnny Winter, who also played at least some (maybe all) the guitar on the cut also.  If one digs up and listens to the 1955 original, it also has yelling sounds in the background, so Winter was likely trying to recreate that atmosphere.

Bonus (highly recommended!) - great footage of Muddy and his hot band at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival, with him cutting a rug near the end (good stuff, with James Cotton and Otis Spann):

I don't think we've ever posted this before.  Hang on until the slide comes out:

Johnny Winter - Woodstock 1969.mp4

But.............he kept practicing, and by a year later (this is labeled 1971, but other sources say 1970), had gotten good (LOL):

(Note a young Tommy Shannon on bass on that one.  (Those darn Texas bluesmen.....))

This dude also coaxes the blues right out of the horn (see previous page)

Fate just dropped this on me. I'm sure if you search, you'll find a more complete video of this awesome performance. I will later, but now I have to make coffee.

The trombone player is using an actual toilet plunger as a mute! Oh this tickles me pink.

I forgot to mention, it's King Satchmo and he's singing. I'll find the whole thing later.
