TN, i stated my position clearly. watching the original videos rather than than 3 packed in to 1 may be easier to follow

glad you mentioned "fair use". Some of those youtubers who use fair use to include short clips of songs are being inundated by unjustified copyright infringement claims that put their channels at risk. but that's a whole other topic
Buzz, sorry your'e not interested. Bye!
cellmate - I've probably exhausted my patience, time, and mental capital on this, but...............you've just added to my confusion with the "original videos rather than than 3 packed in to 1" line. I have no idea what you mean by "3 packed into 1". You can try to clarify that for me, but I suspect I simply don't care to go further with it. And I apologize for that, as I don't want to be dismissive. But nothing I saw from "da judge" so far would move my opinions one whit. Copying without clear divulgence is bad, and wrong. I don't think it's *necessarily* "wrong" to make those types of videos, but the disclaimers should be front and center. And they should *ideally* include some sort of reference to the artists they trained their AI machine(s) on - altho that almost certainly ain't gonna happen. But that's my idealism talkin'. And as a p.s., I haven't gone further into da judge's video since last night.
As a short follow-up.........relative to the "fair use" concept, I also remember well legal disputes over "sampling", which is a tad different from this, but in the same realm. As I recall (not gonna look it up), the key factor in deciding whether such borrowing was legal or not was the length of the sampling. Strictly as a conceptual example.............something like 3 seconds might be ok, but 5 seconds was too much? And that's old, archaic knowledge, so I'm not claiming it's fully accurate.

Q: Who coaxes the blues right out of the horn?
That would be Mame.
Although that lyric doesn’t make sense to me. To “coax the blues right out of the horn” you got to play the horn; and also, in the words of Ringo, “got to pay your dues if you wanna play the blues.” Mame, IIRC, had neither of these things.
She’s kind of the rich version of the Unsinkable Molly Brown. (Who gets rich herself, but Mame starts out that way.)

After the "Bull-Doze Blues"................how about some "Bullfrog Blues" as Rory introduces his band:
Rory Gallagher - Bullfrog Blues
And a certain astrophysicist discussing him:
Brian May Interview On Taste & Rory Gallagher
I'm pretty sure I posted some Rory some years ago here - likely in the "old music" thread. I still find it shocking when people who are pretty into music aren't familiar with him, and his legacy.
I’ve led an extremely fortunate life having been able to attend workshops with Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) and Roy Book Binder as well as having met many other great and talented blues guys at the Fur Peace Guitar Camp while it was operating. After coming to the conclusion that I was too lazy to work on being a master guitar player, I switched to songwriting which is why I’m posting here. One of my best-liked songs is the true story about the time my luggage didn’t arrive at its destination and was never to be seen again…it’s called Delta Blues.
We'd love to hear somebody's rendition of that tune, but your title is pretty much unsearchable (about a gazillion Google hits on the genre). linky?
Jorma is among the coolest of the cool - as I'm sure most here know.
In his shows, Roy always talks about tracking down Rev. Gary Davis at his apt. in NYC, and spending all kinds of time with him, hearing stories about the old days, and learning unusual tunings, etc. from him. Fascinating stuff - but he really drags it out. He also was friends with Dave Van Ronk up there, but forget the nature of their collaboration. Roy likes to tell stories as much as play - which I guess means fewer songs he has to play 🤷. But extremely talented picker.
And I second Buzz's request to hear them Delta Blues - either kind 😁.
(TN -- I'm thinking the elk has played us. Delta Blues is a standard state of mind for anyone traveling on that carrier.)
tip o'the hat, elk!
Could well be. I know there's Delta blues jokes on that thar internet thang.
Peter Green....
Fleetwood Mac Peter Green - Black Magic Woman (Live Boston Tea Party) 1970Albert King - Blues Power - 9/23/1970 - Fillmore East (Official)
Notice he plays left handed, un-restrung. . Jimi could play that way, not as well, preferring restrung
I'm sure I, or someone, has posted John Lee doing this earlier, likely in another thread, and perhaps more raucously, but not with Sunnyland Slim adding his nice touch, and without Willie Dixon (altho in this case he's just background). Pretty rich:
1969 - John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom (Live Video)
Bonus: John Lee, with that Bonnie girl:
Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker 'In The Mood' live from Santa Barbara 1994 concert performance
It's amazing how Bonnie Raitt simply doesn't age. Her body might be telling her a different story, but her voice ....

Can AI have the blues? Asking for a friend.........
I said AI because that channel is very new and keeps adding many songs. He's probably doing it with the AI. Maybe I should have said AI-assisted.
To me, "Auto-generated by YouTube" is more than AI-assisted - but that's just my interpretation.
Here's what Chat-GPT says about "Auto-generated by YouTube.":
When you see “Auto-generated by YouTube.” on a video page on YouTube, it means:
This usually happens when:
A song is distributed to streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) through a music distributor (like DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, etc.).
The distributor also sends the track to YouTube Music.
YouTube automatically generates a “Topic” video using:
The official audio
The album artwork as a static image
Metadata (artist name, song title, album, release date)
The channel name often ends in “– Topic”
Comments may be disabled
The description includes something like:
“Provided to YouTube by [Distributor Name]”
“Auto-generated by YouTube.”
It does not mean the song is fake.
It does not mean someone stole it.
It simply means it was uploaded automatically through YouTube’s music system rather than manually by the artist.
Yes, I had seen that. But since I have been unable to find an artist fitting that description (there's a drummer in New Jersey, but it's almost certainly not his work), I think such a person doesn't exist. Just a feeling; certainly can't say definitively. And what does "fake" really mean in this discussion?? On the whole...........that reads like now youtube is in the music bizness even deeper - **maybe** even creating it themselves.
But no matter...............while there is 'decent' music there, it rings sterile to me, with no soul. If it works for you, then that's fine.
You are a puritan.
Yes, it works for me. I like that particular example. In fact, I just downloaded it to add to my musical library.
I think AI assisted might be a better term in this case. The melody and words could be human created. The music sounds very constructed ie by software tools. Those tools have been around a long time and keep getting more sophisticated and current versions probably all claim to be AI.
To me the more interesting story is DistroKid and other sites like it that make it easy to distribute your music widely. Of course you give up most (if not all) of your rights. But if your songs get a lot of plays you get some recognition

Well, not totally. But I'm sure down on that end of the spectrum. To me *human*-created music is art - an expression of the soul (or whatever counts as that for the artist). In a lot of, but not all cases, it's something that *has* to come out. The artist is compelled by some inner force to emit a creative energy. Same thing with visual art. Some years ago, there was some significant controversary about computer-generated "art" (to use a broad definition). Altho some of it was/is 'pleasant' to look at, it struggles to 'connect' with a lot of viewers because there's no revelation of "the soul" (again, a using a broad definition).
My musical tastes have been shaped and honed by essentially countless live experiences - far and away the best way to receive what the artist(s) want to communicate. Maybe that's what sets us apart; don't know. I get some of the creative juices from musical artists in a live setting. There is a 'flow' - and some uncertain and undefinable amount of that flow includes being a part of others' experience. While I can, and do, enjoy recorded music, 80-90+% of the time, it's not the equivalent of a live experience. (And that includes those times when the sound aspects, or even visual aspects, are sub-optimum.) (As I think I've noted before, the only time I've actually walked out of a hi-level concert was Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band - because it was literally note-for-note what was on the album(s) - no extemporaneity whatsoever.) Same thing with visual art. One of my very favorite things to do is visit hi-quality art museums (and obviously millions of others feel similarly). There's just a 'flow' between the artist and viewer seeing a work live compared to seeing a representation of same on a computer screen. That connection between artist and observer is just something that can't be replicated by AI - at least not that I've yet experienced. Perhaps in time...........
"Perhaps in time..........."
You are not ready for it. That's why I said "puritan".
Me on the other hand, I was dreaming this kind of stuff much much time long time ago. Now, that time has come and I jumped in it right away. Everyday I listen quite many songs to find those I like. Those I like, I save them in my local drive to add my to my favorites. I even wrote a browser extension to download songs from YouTube (Well, AI wrote it for me, I just asked it to write it for me) though there are other ways to do it. Up to now, I think I have downloaded more than fifty now. And most of them, I listen to them in repeat mode (playing the same song for hours).
Alrighty then. We're just different in that way. I wouldn't want to dissuade you from enjoying those things. But as to me being "not ready yet"..................I very seriously doubt I'll ever want to go down your path. Music apparently means something different to us. And that's ok.
While use of the word "fake" in regards to AI-generated "music" is apparently not accepted by all, I've decided it is indeed that for me. Yes, it's music, but it's a fake revealing of feeling, emotion, and artistic expression. You're content to listen to pleasant/good music; I want something more.
It's a trained data. Some of them emerges as the composition of many great artists' creations. So some great stuff comes out and will continue to come. Perfect vocals and instruments performed by virtuoso players. I'm in it.
There are oodles of examples on the 'net of fantastic players - but who are merely (or mostly) showing technical ability, and unfortunately lacking in 'soul'/angst/blues/mojo/whatever. I think I've even pointed this out earlier, in other threads. I'd rather hear/see an organic performance, warts and all, than "perfect vocals and instruments". While I can (and do) admire great technical ability, that (to me) is mostly empty when it's artificial. It's pleasant sound waves - but there's no communication from one human (or band) to others. That's what I term "sterile". Again...........I think music means something different to you and me.
Some of us just want to listen.
Where's my blues fix today?
🔵
Wow hop I listen to the same song over & over also sometimes. Sometimes it's one artist for 2-3 months.
Just yesterday some writer on the View said she listened to one song on a loop the entire time she wrote some book or play. (Of course my attn was split & I really only wanted to know what song. She shared what it was ⬇️
Should I Fall Behind by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. Her story was a love story. Of course what happened next was I was singing it.
Here's your fix, outskirts.......
"I do not play no rock 'n' roll" (north Mississippi (hill country) style) (friends with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, as well as R.L. Burnside, etc.) Hot stuff - esp. the second one:
Bonus, altho I've posted Bukka White earlier, I think including this first one, but not the second one:
Bukka White - Aberdeen Mississippi Blues (1967) HQ
Booker White - Poor Boy Long Way from Home
P.S. -- Yes, as I suspected, I had posted that first Bukka video earlier - back on Jun. 24, 2018 in the "old music" thread.
"Wow hop I listen to the same song over & over also sometimes."
Yes, you do it when you like a song very much. Going back 20 or 30 years back in time, my list was very short (about 10 maybe). But lately the list has become much longer than that and it's mostly thanks to the AI.
Btw I was singing all the parts in all the voices - Bruce, Stevie, Patti, Nils and Clarence💜✝️☮️
I'm thinking I got started doing that playing in the band. We were required to memorize stuff. I practiced for hours daily. That music is still in me, as I commented just a couple days ago on a fb post I made of an early music video from the 1960s. It's just an instrumental I was required to memorize for games. It's called The Lonely Bull by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass.
But then of course I wore out records with repeat playings back then I had to learn every song I liked.

I have also realized that the more listen to one song the more you like it. Sometimes you cannot realize how good a song is.
I'll check your suggestions later. Also YouTube algo is very good at suggesting the song you may like. For example I discovered this one thanks to the algo.
