(I thought there was somewhere else to post problems, but I can't find it. Please redirect me as needed.)

As of yesterday evening, I can't get on board on my Kindle tablet, which I've been using for freecell for a long time. Normally I play on the Opera browser, for...  reasons— but I can't get on with Firefox, either. The tablet is Fire  HD 10 (13th generation). I tried rebooting—no go. I'm not seeing any problems with it otherwise.

I can get on with my old phone,  as you can see. But. Old eyes, tiny screen, arthritic fingers... doesn't work. Please send help. I need my thrice-daily fix

Nothing has changed here. Can you try powering off the Fire tablet and restarting?

To power off a Fire tablet, press and hold the Power button until the shutdown options appear, then select "Shut Down."

Standard Shutdown

  1. Save your work: Before turning off your tablet, make sure to save any open documents or apps to prevent data loss ( blinksandbuttons.net).
  2. Locate the Power button: On most Fire tablets, the Power button is on the bottom edge when holding the device in portrait orientation, or on the top/side depending on the model ( dummies).
  3. Press and hold the Power button: Hold it for a few seconds until a menu appears on the screen.
  4. Select "Shut Down": Tap the "Shut Down" option to turn off the tablet completely ( dummies).

Forced Shutdown (if unresponsive)

If your Fire tablet is frozen or not responding:

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 20–40 seconds until the screen turns off ( About Amazon).
  2. Alternative method: Press the Power button and Volume Down button simultaneously for a few seconds to force a shutdown and then restart ( amazonforum.com).

Additional Tips

  • Sleep mode vs. Shutdown: Tapping the Power button briefly will usually put the tablet to sleep, not fully power it off ( dummies).
  • Restarting: After a forced shutdown, press the Power button again to turn the tablet back on.
  • Factory reset: If you are troubleshooting persistent issues, a factory reset can be performed via the Settings app or by holding the Power and Volume Down buttons, but this will erase all data ( About Amazon).
By following these steps, you can safely power off your Fire tablet or perform a forced shutdown if necessary.

I'm experiencing some weird things at the moment now too.  I get a screen saying trying to get into freecell has timed out, and the site seems to be clunky and slow.  I'm streaming youtube at the same time so I know it is not my internet.  I have to keep refreshing, and most of the time it keeps timing out, then it will let me play a game or two, then it goes back into freezing out.

I tried rebooting, but had not tried a cold restart. I will do so if i encounter further problems; however, it seems to work this morning— the site loads, at least. I'll try a few games and report back.

Okay! I ran a few games, and everything seems fine this morning. Thanks for your attention.
