I'm not saying I'm cheap, but $14.99 a pound for nuts and snacks is too much! That was the price a few months ago at nuts.com when I checked, it's probably more now. Their nuts can't be that good.

Why do folks always have to mention that bananas have potassium? How come no one ever mentions the potassium in a potato?

Couldn't find the thread where we were discussing the weed gummies skit (maybe in one of the music threads??), but this'll be ok here. I think it's the best skit I've seen since that one - altho I've certainly not seen all of them, and there's been plenty of other good ones. The acting of Heidi and Benedict Cumberbatch (who I'd never heard of before this show) is pretty darn good. Mikey and the other leader of the focus group could perhaps be better, but that's not the point of the script.

Bananas and potatoes have very similar potassium and caloric contents. While on the fly, I'm more likely to eat a banana than a potato, but they are basically equivalent. A quick search of the etymology of "potato" reveals that it is unrelated to "potash."

A potato also contains much more nutritional content than a banana. But a banana peel will give you soft elbows and soles of your feet if you rub it on them. Be sure to eat the potato peels though!

Beat me to it on the K+, Buzz; and we get "potassium" from "potash", not the other way 'round.

And I'm quite aware I miss a lot of quality stuff in various medias. While I watch PBS, I do not watch the fictional stuff. I'm sure quite a bit of it is high quality - because that's the way they do things. And I strongly suspected, from watching Cumberbatch on SNL, that he had many other quality projects behind him. I'm just surprised I hadn't even heard his name before, like we usually do for movie/tv type folks. "Only so many hours in a day.............."

Sometimes yes; sometimes no. It's not a priority to me like it used to be - especially since 80+% of the music guests are (c)rap to me. And to me, SNL has greater "staying power" than the PBS/BBC stuff. By some considerable margin, I'd say. Further.............the PBS/BBC stuff tends to be on earlier in the evenings - which often conflict with sports or news shows. Something that rarely happens at 11:30 on a Sat. night (altho recently I've chosen NBA playoff games from the West Coast over SNL - not counting the remote control bi-watching). Compounding that factor..............as I understand it............most of those PBS/BBC shows are series, so one needs to tune in over and over again, week after week. SNL is a one-and-done event. Incredibly more accessible.

Sigh...... I have no recording devices, nor do I stream. Can't imagine watching TV or movies on a computer screen. Gootube wouldn't work as per earlier discussions about ads they stick in. Yes, I'm old school and *still* can't get those kids to get off my lawn.

Streaming goes into your tv. I do it with a cheap cellphone hotspot, which also puts my tablet on the net simultaneously. But if that's too much trouble... You watch videos on your puter, no? Can't imagine? Pshaw ... It's not a matter of can't. It's a matter of won't.

TN โ€” Refresh my faulty memory: You donโ€™t record, stream, or watch on your computer. But you watch SNL on some sort of delay. Howizit? Or, do you simply report your opinions days later?

User: TNmountainman
Message:
No, I don't watch SNL on any delay - other than the 5-second one or whatever it is that the law requires for live broadcasts. In the case of the "report" concerning that ice cream skit, I did just report it weeks later. One of those things that I just didn't get to promptly. And doesn't streaming cost $? I just assume it's another version of "pay tv".

And I can stand to watch a 5-minute video easy enough on a computer, but it's *real* hard to go more than 10 or so minutes. I have, but it's not pleasant or easy. Movies? No way.

outskirts: "I'm not saying I'm cheap, but $14.99 a pound for nuts and snacks is too much!" I can't get this out of my headbone. OF COURSE that's WAY too much. I just checked, and I know you have an Ollie's not too far away from you. I know they don't have the exact same things at each store, but I've been getting *fabulous* cashews there for $4.99/lb., and they have almonds pretty cheap, too. As well as high-quality mixed nuts of various mixes. And I get some *great* walnuts from CA (although not black walnuts, sadly) for I think $6/lb. (Quality Nut Company; Empire, CA) at another discount grocery. No way to get macadamias cheap, unless one lives in HI, or possibly some places in CA. And.............I know you'd apparently prefer to have stuff delivered, but I'm sure you're near that Ollie's every once in a while. Just trying to be helpful.................
