Subject: Pop up ads

I don't mind the pop up ads but the ones that pop up in the corner of the screen at the bottom can't be gotten rid of unless I close out my browser and then reopen. Is there anything to be done with those? I don't mind clicking on the ones that appear in the box either at the side or top.

i don't have a virus except when i am on freecell.net - i will find another site to play if they do not go away. ads are one thing but this pop up/freeze screen until the ad is over is nuts.

Chrome does have some pop-ups going on, and I don't know how to stop them. Netflix is one of the big ones.

to clarify, its not really a pop up ad issue for me, its at the end of a game when the congrats (hopefully) screen "pops up", the game will freeze maybe every 20 games. there is something down at the bottom left of the screen which looks like the header for an ad but i can't see it. a simple refresh fixes things, its not a big deal, but thought it might be related.

I've been playing Freecell since 2006. Just recently I started seeing these pop-up ads in the lower left corner of my screen, and they don't go away until I close the program. I'd say it started 2-3 weeks ago. I use Windows Vista with IE 8.

I get the ads all of the time I am on FreeCell and when I inquired about it to Buck, he said that he pays $1.00/per month to avoid such ads.

My experience is identical to ix's. It's a "Huggies" ad, and as I stated on the other thread relating to this, the "Congrats/stats" window disappears as this ad appears in the lower left corner, and I have to refresh the browser, but the stats don't reappear, and I have to re-set the choice of game variant. Using Firefox. Happens, like ix stated, about every 20 games, maybe... Haven't seen it today, though, and I've played well more than 20 games, I think.

Yes, i had one too. For a movie, called Fast Tracker or something. It stopped my game and i couldn't get rid of it without closing the browser all the way out and restarting. It was not in the middle of a game so i don't know if it would have been a "Sorry you lose!" or not... It was a bummer. ...But it did only happen once, on Wednesday afternoon.

Remember, this is not a pop-up; it more closely resembles the old "pop-under" things from a few years ago, although I don't think that's what it is, either. Seems like a new animal in my experience.

I get it about every 10 or so games. In the lower left corner- it takes control of the game and can only be removed by refreshing the browser. One of them is for "Huggies" and the other is in spanish promoting some movie.

I have experienced these ads that pop up at the bottom of the screen. Probably twice in the past 2 weeks. I also have to quit and restart the browser (IE). I have run my adware remover and virus protection and found no infections, so i am convinced it is on the Freecell site.

Just another NO (so far). I am amazed that such things can happen. I am using Chrome (very snappy, much better than IE8. But the 'Oh Snap, cannot access this site' message is irritating -- happens about once per session).

I haven't seen any pop-ups, just the normal in-frame ads during the "Congrats" window. I'm using Firefox on a PowerBook G4 with no ad-blocking or cookie-disablers running. (I've watched the advertising/marketing world for so long that I'm interested in who chooses to advertise where and how - ads are actually a plus for me!)

I had one of those bottom corner pop-ups and I had to exit Freecell to get free of it. I don't remember what it was, but you couldn't close it or dismiss it or anything.
