THANKS! I have only played twice and I am already up to eleventh. I wish I had known about the WWC sooner. Possibly there are others who still don't know about the WWC. Maybe Denny could replace the current "fortnightly" message with one about the WWC.

Congrats, Tagkag. I knew my score wasn't strong enough to hold up... I'm glad you didn't just barely beat me, 'cause I had one of those "Doh!" moments in the game I lost. It was really a fairly easy game, and I had it figured out, but got briefly interrupted, and then when I came back to it, I blithely started in again but messed up the sequence.

How is THAT possible??? Have I misunderstood the scoring? I thought that "rolling 10 week point total" meant that only the last 10 weeks count and that the maximum possible score would be 800 (for 10 consecutive wins). How can [...]dcn soar from 569.83 last week to 1059.67 this week, when HE DIDN'T EVEN PLAY??? I suppose that I should be happy with my own jump in score from 456 to 954.33, except that it leaves me in ONLY 2nd place. My best estimate is TT at 498.33 with [...]dcn down by 80 at 489.83. Sorry about the screw up. This is the first week that the script has been running non-stop for over a week and it added last weeks scores on top of this weeks. I'm thinking of reducing the bonus points for top finishers. Maybe something as small as an extra 5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd. Opinions?

free@last -- Not sure what you mean by "bonus points". Do you mean the 'gap' between first and second, for example? Assuming that's what you mean, then I'm not against that. What I'd *rather* have is something that "allows" a player to have one or two particular weeks not count in the rolling 10-week totals. I.e., have only the top 9 (or 8) places of the previous 10 weeks count. The logic behind this (for me, at least, and I suspect others) is that I'm not interested in playing the clickfests, mainly the 13x0 and 12x1 variants, because of the huge time commitment. Others (myself included), such as [...]dcn this week, just don't have the time every single week. I understand, though, that the purpose is to sort of give the "overall" best player, and I also understand that the computational issues involved might be too worrisome and/or complicated to implement. So that's sort of a *wish* that I don't seriously expect to have any real chance of being implemented. And thank you again for your time and trouble to do this. Gulbis -- You can create a new nick just for this competition. I had my 'joke' nick of "MUDstains" laying around and so I decided to use that only for this competition, so as not to jeopardize other current streaks I may have going. I strongly suspect you know that, but juuust in case, thought I'd mention it.

free@last, Oops, forgot about your revised scoring suggestion. I think that in most (?? eg. Golf, Tennis, Darts) professional sports you get about twice as many ranking points (not to mention money) for finishing 1st as for finishing 2nd. However, we are not professionals, so I agree that a somewhat more "player friendly" scoring system would be OK. However, your suggestion is a BIG change. How about something like the following which gives more points than before for positions 2 thru 18 (14 pts more for positions 7 thru 9): 80, 72, 65, 59, 53, 48, 43, 38, 34, 30, 26, 23, 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 I also agree with TN that only counting a players 9 best scores would be a good idea. It is a simple formula: SUM(last 10 scores) - MIN(last 10 scores). Also, again, thank you VERY, VERY MUCH!!!!!! Tony

DebbyJ - thanks. 13x0 is actually not my drug of choice, that honor goes to 13x1. But it was tough, yes, especially because I didn't get to 1000. TitanicTony - haha. You wouldn't mind if I was first? Well, I wouldn't mind either but there's no chance of that happening. I have a full time work and Freecell is blocked at work so I can only play from home. And if I'm tired at night I don't even want to play the difficult variants. That's why I like 13x1, it's easy enough so I can relax playing it but it's not completely mindless. Oh, and next Wednesday is a team tournament day so I'll probably be playing those mostly. TNmountainman - yeah, I do know about different nicknames but I'm not inclined to use them. I feel it's fairer if all my statistics are under one name, that way I can't pretend I'm better than I actually am.

Thanks Tony! It's been three years and we have really felt the pinch. Plus, I am "too young" to be retired but not financially well enough set up to play with friends who are home during the day because they don't need to work. So it will be good in a number of ways to be back out there among the working class. I won't be able to play freecell in the workplace, so I won't be tempted toward unproductivity and I can unwind with it in the evenings. Keep a watch out for me and we'll see how much I can get back on the site. (If you see me alot 8-6 weekdays, then that would mean there is a problem somewhere)Also was getting close to some of your scores and don't want to lose the touch!!

I suppose that it doesn't really matter how the scoring is done, BUT... on the rolling ten week standings, even though I came first, I went down from 72.197 to 71.823! How is that possible? My guess is that it has to do with the variable weighting. This week, W11x1 was only worth 1.19327827579247, whereas, last week, W11x1 was worth 1.43069039278245! Thanks. Here's the one that took me down: 921-9. I beat it on third try, to make it now 4/92, so I'm glad I didn't lose to an easy(-ish) one. It's a challenging game, but after winning it, it didn't seem like it should be a game with only a 4% winning percentage.
