I was not familiar with either video. Both are real fun. 

In the first one (home movies), the crew seems to be much the same as those in Stop Making Sense. The second video was live from one of Byrne's tours. I love how he used the violins to replace the synth.

If you ever had the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John, you know this song. I don't think it got much radio play 50 years ago because it's over 11 minutes. Except maybe on our awesome underground FM station. Maybe that's why my friends had not heard of the song! Which astonished me! Awesome song!!!

So, I mentioned the song yesterday and got asked a bunch of questions about it, and was asked to sing it. Uh yeah. I described the first part then sang some after the switchover. Lol. That "Songs of 1975 to 1979, Vol. 3" was mis-labeled on the screen.  Up in the right-top corner, it said "Best Songs of 1975 to 1979".  Should have been "WORST Songs of 1975 to 1979".  What dreck - even considering that time period.  Sorry; that's just pretty factual. 

Zeppelin and Stones made great stuff then ('75-'79)...Rush and Pink Floyd as well, I'd say...then again, I suppose those are all imports...ha!

Oh, agreed.  I liked some disco - and have never failed to acknowledge that fact.  "Saturday Night Fever" (just as one easy example) was a superb album - and even stands the test of time - mostly.  There was some good disco (I may well even have posted some herein); there was a LOT of baaad disco.  Disco is no excuse whatsoever for lip-synching, even tho that was (by some of the mainstream only) 'accepted'(?) at the time.  It's no excuse for the cheesy aspects (you know what I mean) that were evident even then.  *Despite* the often-accompanying overly-lush orchestration, there was some good, worthwhile stuff.  But it's no excuse for the let's-jump-on-the-bandwagon-because-everybody-is-doing-it sell-outs that some (otherwise) quality bands undertook.  It's no excuse for the plethora of "Hey-let's-see-if-we-can-make-some-of-this-ourselves" bandwagoning.  (The "Tom, Dick, and Harry" phenomenon.)  Disco is not **inherently** dreck - but all, or virtually all, of that video are.  And I don't even need to qualify that with a "imo".  It's just so.  If you disagree, that's ok.  But history has already judged that stuff - and judged harshly.  ALL THAT SAID..............one need not apologize for just having whatever persnickety affectations one chooses to hold onto.  No doubt I have some of those my own bad self.

Indeed.........there was some GREAT non-disco music during the late '70s.  The ones you mentioned; but also Boston, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce, the Dead, lots of blues artists, and really far too many to mention.  I've got beaucoups of it on hand.  And that stuff really did NOT get lost in the shuffle (yes, intended).  It's just perhaps sometimes 'overshadowed' (tho not really) by cursory observers.

i can't sit and listen to disco. if the "disco cringe" sets in (with very few exceptions it usually does) i change to something else.

that said, pink floyd had a song the "contained elements of disco". i never noticed. when i heard about it i re-listened and sure enough it was there.
