That's what I saw on the link posted immediately above your post. Maybe cellmate's "Simple English Wikipedia" marches to a different drummer.

Jimmy Kimmel won a Peabody award in the Entertainment category. It was his first Peabody, but he has won many other awards. The Peabody was created to honor excellence in radio broadcasting, but it has been expanded to include television.

I am not particularly fond of Kimmel's show, and will rarely watch it. (He has a nice sound stage, and his musical guests are frequently outstanding.) But, I don't find it ridiculous that he won a Peabody in today's political climate.

Any relation to their Admiral?

I believe not, altho he (the admiral) has a grandson who's a broadcaster in SC.  More interesting is that he's (the admiral) a descendant of one of the "Regulators" back in the times before the American Revolution.  While many Americans know a lot of our country's history, that kerfuffle doesn't get much notice.

I like mixing a Moscow Mule in a copper mug. It’s the only drink I like in which the taste bears no resemblance to the liquor involved.

However, the copper has a nasty habit of oxidizing and giving the drink a nasty taste. I can remove the oxide layer easily with Brasso, but preventing further oxidation will require a more inventive approach.

Any suggestions?

What is the best way to prevent oxidation of the interior of copper mugs used for drinking (for example Moscow Mules)?

As one who's used to being around 'foul' substances..............there's really no good answer.   A plumber friend has recommended something called "Wright's" in the past for cleaning copper, but it's likely something similar to Brasso - and not really for "maintenance".  There are sealants which could be used, but maybe not a good pathway.  I'm sure you've done all the requisite internet searching.  But........copper be copper, and I'm sure you've aware of it's outer-shell electrons, thus oxidative predilection - even in just air.  I *imagine* you could store it in some sort of Bell jar, evacuating the air; or some container in which you pump nitrogen instead of leaving it in air.  Thinking along those lines............have you thought of storing it in a (more-or-less) sealed container containing a desiccant?  That may actually be the easiest way to go, but I have no way of guaranteeing its efficacy.

I am no stranger to the reactivity of copper. Combined with the salty air around here and the alkaline/slightly saline water from the tap, my little mugs don't stand a chance.

My research tells me that various products are available for sinks, countertops, etc. that provide long-term protection. They tend to be a combination of waxes, polymers, and other coatings I hesitate to be drinking. More natural approaches are bees wax and carnauba wax (often used in giving "brazilians" -- so you don't have to worry about unsightly hair growing inside your mug.)

To avoid buying half a dozen products and testing them on myself, I was hoping for some advice from those in the field or serious hobbyists. Brewksi's bar owning brother would be a perfect source.

One of my very best friends for a while was a park ranger at Cumberland Island National Seashore, which is just barely inside Georgia along the GA-FL line.  It's a pretty large barrier island, with no way to get to it other than by boat.  It's like a 30-40(?)-minute ferry ride over to it.  Anyway, he would usually take the ferry back to the mainland each evening, but, depending on the timing of the tides, would sometimes stay on the island at night.  Mostly to swim with the manatees in the tidal pools - all by himself.  He said they had no fear of him at all, and he could play with them - but sensibly didn't overdo it.  He now says it's still one of the highlights of his life.  Apparently these tidal pools, and this island, is about the northern extent of where they'll 'migrate' to in the summer.  I considered posting a bunch of stuff about the National Seashore, etc. (very cool place), but you all can look it up if'n you're interested enough.  Wild horses there, too.  And there's at least one video of manatees there on that faceybook thing.

Oh, what the heck:
