They'd be great live, with that 35Hz booming up on your body ~95dB...like you're enveloped by the frequencies you can't even hear cuz they're so low......

Not that my opinion matters, but.............................the music is pretty nice, and the scenery (Turkey, or further east??),too; but the lip-syncing, posing, and poseur-ing *really* detract from it - for me at least.

Staged music videos can be distracting. Performance videos are generally more true to the music, but a lot of musicians (and consumers) want the visual art.

So who did it first? The Real McCoy song dates from 2010, going by the date on the video. This anime Aqua "Barbie" dates from 2008, also going only by the video date (I know the original Aqua version dates from 1997.) I guess a better way to phrase by question is........................was it common knowledge that Real McCoy lifted from, or borrowed heavily from "Barbie"? It's so blatant. Just curious.
"Another Night" was released four years prior to "Barbie Girl", so we can add that to the list of problems generated by the song. (Mattel sued MGM records over the song, but used the song in the Barbie movie.)
But, yes, chatter about the songs being similar has been swirling around the internet for a long time.
Thanks. I knew about the controversy over the song being a copyright infringement vs. Mattel, but could find nothing about the song vs. song, but only in barely-more-than-minimal searching. But it *is* blatant. And yet it's ("Barbie") vastly superior, too, IMO.

My new favorite cover is: this. Comments say that it's even better than the original by legendary rock guitarist/singer Erkin Koray. I think I agree with the comments.
I recently learned that Erkin Koray actually adopted it from an Indian song. He took the melody, changed a little and wrote Turkish lyrics for it and voila. One of the most favorite songs in Turkish rock history.
There is even a Turkish serial with the same name of the song, which was a global success (It was dubbed in over 30 languages and broadcast in numerous countries). Naturally you hear the song many times in it.

Greek music sometimes sounds similar to Turkish music. I shared here some Turkish songs that are originally Greek songs, and even one song with Turkish and Greek Lyrics.
As to the winner.............goodness gracious.............I was sure he was singing in German, or similar, until 1:40, when I could understand "I'm holding on.......". Otherwise could *never* have guessed that was English. That *may* have been the only lyrics I could decipher. Yes, better than (most of) Yoko Ono, but sounded a lot like an opera singer warming up the pipes. Since this is a contest, apparently it was supposed to be an unknown song??? How can one appreciate that if only 3 words were intelligible? I'm serious; I'd like to know.
The Greek one was *much* more enjoyable, with the "choreography" only minimally intrusive (why bother, actually, since it was *so* minimalist - altho that's refreshing compared to the U.S.-style absurdly overblown productions that are more choreography than music). And thankfully there was a translation. Why not have one for the one (ostensibly) in English?
Many countries participate with songs that have (partly?) English lyrics thinking they have better chances for better results.
Eurovision was a big thing in old times. But last 15 or 20 years or so, I don't follow it that much. Nevertheless it produced a lot of good songs in its long history.

Just gereralizing. I didn't listen to that song. I think I watched some Eurovision songs with partly English lyrics though I can not name them now from my memory.
The choreography for Asteromata was my favorite part. Were there lyrics to that song? I don't recall.
Not sure how JJ wasted love, and I didn't spend a lot of time finding out. I followed his origami boat back to the Asteromata video.
