Meanwhile, back on regular Jeopardy, Ben Chan looked unstoppable ... until he wasn't. The nine-time champ was in good shape, though challenged, going into Final Jeopardy. The answer was, "Both of the names of these 2 lovers in a Shakespeare play come from the Latin word for 'blessed.'" The first two players missed by asking, "Who are Romeo and Juliet?" Chan's question was , "Who are Beatrice and Benedict?" He was deemed to be wrong because the actual answer was two characters from "Much Ado About Nothing" named Beatrice and Benedick. Tough way to go. The betting was such that Ben lost. Apparently, there was a lot of squawking about Ben being wronged, but the Jeopardy folks are adamant: Benedict and Benedick are different names, though both are derived from the Latin for "blessed." It was the right call -- Jeopardy is really picky about certain pronunciations, plural vs singular, etc. To give Ben this one would have been, "Meh ... close enough." Not exactly on brand.

Well, bummer. I watch Jeopardy! only on recorded delay (to avoid the inane commercials and the annoying interviews of the players). This time, the recording was interrupted because some guy was indicted for stealing classified documents impeding the investigation, and bragging about it on tape. No idea who won. I'll find out tomorrow.

Last night was the conclusion of the reruns of the masters tourney. Total prize package 1 million dollars. I remember when they couldn't make any real money on Jeopardy.

First place $500,000

Second place $250,000

Third place $150,000

"He" got $100,000

Looks like we won't have Mayim Bialik to kick around anymore.

Mayim Bialik is out as host of 'Jeopardy!' with Ken Jennings to stay in his role as permanent host

Kyra Sedgewick isn't hard at all to look at, but babe is sort of awful at the game of Jeopardy! (from what I saw).

(Not sure if anyone informed her of wrong answers' detriments).

I like Mayim, just not as jeopardy host. Still not fond of KJ

When I saw on the news that she was quitting jeopardy, I said it is probably because they noticed a big difference in ratings between the different hosts.

Celebrity jeopardy is fun because it's easier. Lol

My home rules for playing along:

I don't have to buzz in or say "what is".

I have to get it out my mouth before any of them do, or it doesn't count.

I used to keep track of my number of correct answers on paper. The very best I ever did was 30 of the 60 questions. (When I was on fire! 🔥)...It's hard! I've known plenty of liars who say they get 'em all on jeopardy and I'm sorry, I just don't believe them. Except that one guy I knew who not only knew every answer, but he kept track of the money he'd won as he went, in his head. He was Romani and a very fun guy.

Good luck at home players!

If I competed there, I suspect my victory line would one, possibly one-and-a-half.

Total 11 out of 122

The two that I knew right away that none of them got

Harry Nilsson

Robert Mitchum

And I got the daily double that Matt missed (zigzag sewing machine)

I guessed the same as Mattea did on final jeopardy, latin science category. We both missed it.

The above article has the schedule for this tournament if you scroll way down. Next is Monday. It will be stretched out over three weeks.

I do know my Nilsson (mentioned pussy cats earlier in this thread)

Got Patti Smith too. I'm not sure but they all might have missed it. The people answers I mentioned were all pictures too. Those geniuses don't get the easy ones.

Victoria was something else. I want to see her get James. Or anyone get James. Yogesh got James last night. James might have brought a little too much ego. I still like him though.
