Message:Thanks Ellie! After seeing I was just behind TT in all-time High Water Mark scores I had to keep going. I made it above 400 last Saturday and then got into the 500's and 600's as the week went on. I peaked at 706 Wednesday night but blew it trying to get my 10x0 streak from 4 to 5 on Thursday. I'm not sure why the HWM mark hasn't updated.
Anyway, 10x0 is not my variant. It's right up there with 6x4 for having lots of difficult, but winnable deals. My first 10x0 trying to get to 5 was winnable (something like 2-28).

I'll be honest, I've been trying all all week to get a 10 streak in 8x2, but I only finally managed it today after some treacherous deals. Definitely my least favourite of the 10-sums - even some of the ones I was convinced would be 20 percenters turn out to be 70-80% instead, so it's probably some kind of mental block/lack of practice or whatever.

Message:Uberman has pushed ahead but last night I had a dream so vivid that I had played (and won) a couple of games and pushed my score up to 1307. When I checked this morning, I wouldn’t have been surprised either way. Alas, a dream it was. At least I hadn’t played, and lost for real. That said, when you dream of playing freecell, it’s time to take a few days off.

I'll probably leave the 10-sums as they are also until the next Friday snapshot, which will probably mean I'll start shaking and sweating through withdrawal by Thursday, but whatever.

Message:Hey Ellie, FWIW, yes you were my inspiration to take streaking in the 10-sum variants more seriously again. They’ve always been my favorites once I discovered them. Also, you should know that Uberman and I have been competing against each other here (in a friendly fashion) for a couple of decades. It pains me, (at least a bit) that he won a Masters tournament before I did, and that he pipped me to 1000 in the 10-sum competition.
That said, if I look at your Elo rating and also at some of the games you have won in the threads on never won winnables, you are selling yourself short on aiming for 500. I don’t see why you can’t be the 3rd member of the 10-sum 1k club? Go for it. If you lose a winnable game along the, please post it here and I’m sure you’ll get some advice on how you could have caught your mistake before it cost you.

Message:I'll be honest, Dr.B, I had no idea about the the Masters stat, but it doesn't really mean much at the end of the day. According to Hop's query I've only played in three of them, and you won both of the other ones, and I'd wager that you've won far more tournaments over the years when we've both been competing.

Message:I've been clicking on the Player names and it's really interesting to see that 67.67% of the 5x5-5 games are winnable. So, there's a 21% chance of getting 4 winnable deals in-a-row and 14.5% chance of getting 5. Of course, the challenge is winning them as I'm amazed to see some deals that look hopeless (at least to me) only to see that they are winnable from their Elo rating.
