Personally, it's a motivation to play 8x4 for me. At the beginning, when selecting the variants to include, I mostly picked those played by many players (i.e. popular ones).
Yes. They are not listed in blue as seen above. But to make a place in the standings, you need to pass them. So it's a challenge.

Message:I won the daily once back 2010 I believe. It's a challenge to make the top 24. While defining one's ability by a single variant is difficult, this one is perhaps the most telling. While it's likely most players are not aware of the contests, they are aware that they are in a competition for the daily. That's good enough for me. Btw, my average streak on this is 16, so anything above that is gravy.

Message:I practice by using custom mode @ level 12. It's like sight reading (in music). Practice on the hard ones. Then when you have to perform in front of judges and be rated, you'll draw something easier. 😁 Good luck in 8x4 e1

Message:I had a friend who during high school had to face Dave Schultz in regionals. Naturally he was clobbered. During Schultz's senior year he was given a default third place in league because he was out of country winning a silver at the Tbilisi tournament at the time. With the help of that auto bid he went on to win state. If freecell had something similar, I feel Hop, you are worthy of that type of accord. I can't say I enjoy getting clobbered, but in a race with you, it's really the race for second.
