The WSC today is 8x3 which we make artificially fully winnable. 8x3 is naturally 99.7% winnable and we remove the few unwinnable deals so even though 8x3 is a tougher 11 sum game I expect some big streaks today.
Someone asked last week how to play. All you have to do is select Streak mode and then select the 8x3 variant. Then see how many wins in a row you can rack up today. And then to look at real time results go to Scores --> 8x3 and click the Daily header to sort by daily streak. And that shows the current standings.
This is an external contest run by Hop and he pulls that data and shows where things stand. Go!

P.S. As always thanks to cellmate for the winnability data.
P.P.S. I'm in 12th place and have a streak of 5! Look out Hop, here I come!
Hey this is a really fun variant! I've never played it before. I played a few more games and I'm now in 11th place. I'd be higher but there are some other doofuses playing.
Could someone check the spelling on the plural of doofus, please? Should it be doofi?

Long ago I decided that I did not like 8x3 so I didn't play it for years. Today I started playing it again and have been enjoying it also.
Maybe doofusses?
Something is rotten, not only in Denmark, but in freecell-topia. This needs to be moved from climate 5 to about climate 9, 10, or 11:
| 8x3 14204-5 | |
| Elapsed: | 14:25 |
| Game stats: | 143/6/4.2% |
From the www.freecell.net/f/c/instructions.html page:
There has been a lot of discussion over time about the winning percentages versus difficulty levels. Because of the above progression the level 5 games tend to be played by less experienced players while the level 10 games are played by players who have amassed a streak of at least 50. So a difficulty 5 game with a winning percentage of 50% played by stronger players would have a much higher winning percentage.
There have been recommendations about moving the lower winning percentage games to higher difficulty levels but then the winning percentage would change as it was addressed by stronger players. So we'd be endlessly shuffling the games around. So please, as noted above, just view difficulty levels as a general "climate" versus "weather" and not as anything absolute about the individual game's difficulty. And stay on your toes in the lower levels — some of those are tricky!
Sure.........we know all that.......... But also just as surely all the yeoman's work by andaronjim wasn't for naught? Remember all the success he had with his crying and wailing? He sure got some things properly moved, did he not? You and Ty can't do *all* the work, right?
I feel kinda nostalgic for andaronjim's trusty input.
hotnurse, dede and I met andaronjim in downtown Washington about 12 years ago. He suggested we buy gold. It was around $1,300 at the time.
Fancy that. And he got bullied and mocked for being "stupid" til he just left. I reckon he laughs his way to the bank.
Yeah, I remember. And the word back then was that he 'seemed' sort of normal, if'n I recall correctly.
