I am fortunate enough to be able to go to the commissary that sits right next to this, Hangar One, Moffet Field. It is bigger than it looks. Restoration is almost complete after 7 years. Google boys get to use the field as a reward since they put up the ducats. I really miss those Fourth of July, Blue Angel shows. They were great. Crowds were bigger than Fleet Week.

Will Reeve, GMA anchor, and son of Chris Reeve, announces his ignorance during the trivia questions. "Oh I didn't know it's called Motown (records) because (Detroit) it's the motor city."

I didn't know Will Reeve existed until this morning. No surprise that he said something like that -- the network morning shows (on any network) are bastions of brainless banter.

For the record (so to speak) and by no means in defense of Reeve, Motown Records have not been in Detroit for 60 years. They've been in L.A., NYC, and back to L.A. They've been an independent label, part of MCA, Polygram, Capitol, and independent once more. The first couple moves occurred before Reeve was born. Unless he is some sort of music buff, he wouldn't have known of Motown's roots in Detroit.

Among my long list of treasured friends was one who was for a while a VP of Motown.  But that's merely a tiny tidbit of his extraordinary life.  I wish I had had more time to spend with him.  To say he had stories is an extreme understatement - yet he was not one to boast or even have the slightest air of a man of his accomplishments.  He was humble and reserved, yet exuded a preternatural dignity that could not be ignored.  "They don't make 'em like this anymore."

There's not really a good synopsis of his life available online, at least that I know of, but here's some middling attempts:

amazing how tech has gotten so cheap. I bought a gamestick from Amazon with 40 emulators/platforms that plugs into the tv. It has 60k games, some of them I wouldn't rate much better than shareware. meaning there are hundreds that are still worth playing. It comes with two wireless controllers. PlayStation library alone makes me happy. All for 45 bucks and some games even have the cheats. It's nice to play Galaga or Centipede once in a while.
