I have all the hardware for my laptop (Surface Book) to interface with two monitors. I have a smaller backup laptop (Surface 5 refurb from a local comp repair place). Getting all the components to talk to both laptops has been interesting. The smaller laptop newer and works with all the gear, but the Book is two years older and does not interface with everything. 

How many different video connections to HDMI are possible? USB-C, mini video, HDMI-to-HDMI, and ...??? Apparently, one needs all the adapters.
