Last night was the conclusion of the reruns of the masters tourney. Total prize package 1 million dollars. I remember when they couldn't make any real money on Jeopardy.
First place $500,000
Second place $250,000
Third place $150,000
"He" got $100,000
Looks like we won't have Mayim Bialik to kick around anymore.
Mayim Bialik is out as host of 'Jeopardy!' with Ken Jennings to stay in his role as permanent host
Kyra Sedgewick isn't hard at all to look at, but babe is sort of awful at the game of Jeopardy! (from what I saw).
(Not sure if anyone informed her of wrong answers' detriments).
I like Mayim, just not as jeopardy host. Still not fond of KJ
When I saw on the news that she was quitting jeopardy, I said it is probably because they noticed a big difference in ratings between the different hosts.
Celebrity jeopardy is fun because it's easier. Lol
New Masters Tourney with top 4 faves from last time
Tonight at 8 eastern
Brittney Griner interview with Robin Roberts at 10
My home rules for playing along:
I don't have to buzz in or say "what is".
I have to get it out my mouth before any of them do, or it doesn't count.
I used to keep track of my number of correct answers on paper. The very best I ever did was 30 of the 60 questions. (When I was on fire! 🔥)...It's hard! I've known plenty of liars who say they get 'em all on jeopardy and I'm sorry, I just don't believe them. Except that one guy I knew who not only knew every answer, but he kept track of the money he'd won as he went, in his head. He was Romani and a very fun guy.
Good luck at home players!
If I competed there, I suspect my victory line would one, possibly one-and-a-half.

Total 11 out of 122
The two that I knew right away that none of them got
Harry Nilsson
Robert Mitchum
And I got the daily double that Matt missed (zigzag sewing machine)
I guessed the same as Mattea did on final jeopardy, latin science category. We both missed it.
The above article has the schedule for this tournament if you scroll way down. Next is Monday. It will be stretched out over three weeks.
I do know my Nilsson (mentioned pussy cats earlier in this thread)
Got Patti Smith too. I'm not sure but they all might have missed it. The people answers I mentioned were all pictures too. Those geniuses don't get the easy ones.
Victoria was something else. I want to see her get James. Or anyone get James. Yogesh got James last night. James might have brought a little too much ego. I still like him though.
A new super champ has emerged. Not as dominant as some, but she seems know just the correct answers at the correct time. Adriana Harmeyer has amassed nearly $300,000 thus far. Probably a tad more than she earns as an archivist in a university history department.
huge, Huge, HUGE Jeopardy news today. One of the contestants was named "Paolo". I missed the first 12 minutes but as I was watching, I was wondering: is he Paolo Pascal?
For Freecell players who also enjoy crossword puzzles, Paolo Pascal is crossword solver royalty. Either the best or 2nd best ever! He's just a freak. Insanely good at crosswords. He's in his early 20's and he's the 2-time reigning crossword puzzle champion. Also edits the Atlantic Monthly's crossword puzzle column. I've commented earlier that he would just kill at Wordbox.
Turned out, he is Paolo Pascal. Seems like his buzz in skills might need some work - he was trailing going into Double Jeopardy but he aced the category for Anagrams - Duh, he's a word savant, and he never looked back. I'm really curious to see how he does. If he gets buzzing in down, He could end up as one of the all time greats. Spread the news. It's an intriguing experiment across problem solving skills.
OK, if there are any Jeopardy fans still monitoring the freecell discussion board, it turns out that being one of the greatest crossword puzzle solvers of all time is also a great background for being a Jeopardy champion. Paolo Pascal is now a 7-time champion and closing in on a total winnings of $200k. I’m sure this gig is paying way more than writing the crossword puzzles for The Atlantic Monthly or winning the US Crossword championships two years running.
Go nerds.
Watching Jeopardy last night I learned something. Did you know that the name for Solitaire used to be Patience? I didn't. But just now your quote came up that triggered that memory from last night. "Chastity is a virtue. Bet you miss patience, huh?" I believe that was an original Denny quote for when the server was slow. I've seen the name Patience in my family tree as a female given name, going back a few hundred years. The Jeopardy clue also included the word virtue, so I guessed the answer correctly.
To me the most fascinating given name I've seen in my family tree (NOT on the Internet) is Remember. Remember Morton. Can't remember if it was male or female. Lol
For fun just now, I googled the name. Here's what I got. This is definitely my ancestor. I know. But I didn't click on it to see the gender. I absolutely hate ancestry sites. They are so inaccurate.
It says she died at the age of 71, which would be impossible if the birth and death years are accurate. Most likely, the idiot that made that entry didn't know the difference between "died in their 71st year", as they used to put on grave markers, and "died at age 71".
Still don't like KJ. I always want to call him a b*st*rd but it always comes out b*tch.
Ken Jennings mispronounced a word that was in a clue he was reading! Lol. The word was short-lived and he pronounced it short-līved. And he never said a thing about it (unless he did, and I missed that).
It's the little things. 😂
The long i version is admittedly not the etymological wont, but I've used it before to sound a tad fancier than otherwise...
Showing now on daytime Jeopardy, from earlier this year. I like this guy Liam, he's really smart. But with that hairdo, is he •trying• to look like Sheldon Cooper? He sure has the resemblance. ☺️
I see it's a thing, and no small thing at that, to think Liam looks like Sheldon. Lol. I googled Jeopardy Liam, and Jeopardy Liam Sheldon came up, so I clicked and wow. There are even videos.
It's going to take a real freak to get rid of Jamie
Jamie squeaked by last night, and Liam did yesterday!
Jamie’s got a ways to go to beat Ken’s record of 74 consecutive wins, for a total of $2.5 M. But if anyone can, Jamie can! He’s an absolute beast!
True! And Wednesday, the guy on the right with deaf parents, had Jamie beat, until he overbet on final Jeopardy!! Jamie bowed to him.
Wow! I’ve been trying to find out what happened last night, I was watching the splashdown and missed Jeopardy! Thank you!
But there's also serious jeopardy on splashdowns, too 🙂↔️🙄🫨😯💦.
Fellow Canadian in space! First non-American to escape earth’s orbit.
My Canadian mother always said Canadians are Americans too because Canada is in North America. Js
Lol. I'm pretty sure that plenty "non-Americans" have been in space. So I don't get that unless it's troll bait.
(Lumber being Buzz)
Facts aren’t troll bait, xeena, unless you make them so. Is this part of your request to “LMTFA”? Don’t start none, there won’t be none.
But u can't do it!!! And lies are troll bait!!
he doesn't seem to be doing as well as he was earlier on. I wonder if he's just getting tired?
Yesterday sure was an off day for Jamie. But he's making Jeopardy "must see tv" again!
That's what makes it suspicious. TV shows crave ratings.
how does one person absorb and recall so much information
perhaps the autopsy will provide some clues
Firenze - The thought has flitted across my mind, but Jeopardy!? Wouldn't that be a scandal!
I know when Jamie Ding becomes a lawyer, he won't have a problem getting clients.
Ken: "Today's Final Jeopardy answer was, 'Canadian Jeremy Hansen is the only non-U.S. citizen to have this distinction.' Jimmy, we'll start with you. Your question was 'What is Grand Wizard in the KKK?'. <laughter> No, I am sorry but that is not correct. Your wager was $84, leaving you with $1 and currently in third place.
"Timmy, your question was, 'Who was the first non-US citizen in space?' No, many Russians cosmonauts and crew members on the space stations were not US citizens. You wager was $2550 leaving you $0 and in third place.
"Jack, your question: 'Who was the first non-US citizen to leave Earth's orbit.' That is correct! The previous international space explorers never exceeded a low earth orbit 250 miles above the Earth's surface, but the Artemis II crew, including Jeremy Hansen, ventured over 250,000 miles from Earth and used the gravity of the moon to slingshot their craft back to Earth. Your wager of $2000 dollars gives you a total for today of $4600, and you are the new champion!"
Outskirts - don’t forget, Jamie still has a long way to go to beat Ken’s record!
Jeopardy must be monitoring this board and knew the jig was up.
Info from Internet ⬇️
"Phone-a-Friend" is a lifeline used in the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" that allows contestants to call a friend for help with a question. This lifeline was popular in the U.S. version until it was discontinued in 2010 due to contestants' friends using the internet to find answers.
Frankly, I thought it was obvious from day one that "phone-a-friends" were using the internet! Seriously, they had to know!
But I can't imagine Jeopardy cheating! Surely it would be too big a disgrace to get past!
