It's hard to imagine KC having success in the playoffs this year. To their credit, they are winning despite a ton of injuries, but by the thinnest margins. If they solidify on offense, they will be a force. The teams to watch in the AFC are KC, Buffalo, and Baltimore on a good day. Lions and Eagle in the NFC.

A little context for the above comments: Rodgers is a (paid) fixture on the Pat McAfee show (radio, cable, and streamed podcast on ESPN) and has used that medium to pressure coaches and ownership, suggest his unhappiness with players and teams, announce his availability/unavailability due to injury, talk of his seclusion in a totally black room for days to him make a decision on his future, his opposition to vacciniations, etc etc. This was pretty much a happy thing for McAffee, Rodgers, and listeners until the Jets still sucked after Rodgers return from injury this season. Now, the media and fanbase are getting weary of him, and some have dared to criticize his performance.
Well, Aaron likes praise for his successes and attention for his weirdness, but he really doesn't like criticism. So, Aaron lashed out at the critics saying that may of the talking heads (ESPN and others) got their media gigs for being good athletes, but "no one remembers anything they did as players", and he suggested that these critics have no credibility or perspective to dare criticize him.
Most in the media are accustomed to the big egos in the pros lashing out at them when they tell the truth, but Ryan Clark took great exception. Clark has risen through the ranks from occasional analyst to his current status as a fixture on Get Up and Monday Night Football. He used the opportunity on Get Up to respond the Rodgers: he acknowledged Rodgers record as one of the best ever, but he pointed out the blatant hypocrisy of Rodgers being a fading star being paid quite well as a media consultant to criticize others.
Now that the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets have been elminated from playoff contention, Aaron will have a lot more time for his musings.
He'd not be so roundly laughed at if he'd at times been moderately humble. Pride before the fall (or something like that).

interestingly, the NYT published an article showing how KC has had significantly fewer penalties against them than their opponents over the last four years in the playoffs. And, I just watched Buffalo attempt a 4th and 1 where it looked like the ball crossed the first down line but, of course, on review, the call went to KC.
Yeah, but the numbers tell a different story because KC has won the penalty/close calls advantage in every single playoff game since Brady retired. All of them. The sequence I watched was crucial to KC winning and it followed bad refereeing on both the 3rd down play and the 4th down play. Not that I care that much, but on other discussion boards more oriented towards sports, seems like 4/5 tend to agree. Of course, Mahomes and Taylor Swift will bring more eyeballs to the SB.
I didn't realize there was an official stat for close calls and controversial penalties. It's a new world.
As for the internet leanings that "the fix is in", it's probably closer to 100%. I find it hilarious that Mahomes gets to live rent-free inside so many brains for all these years.

I never understood why there was a need for a two-minute warning. There are game clocks everywhere, sideline coaches all over the place. Why do they need to be warned? I mean, the owner, or even Swift could call the head coach from the suite and say, "you've got two-minutes left, chop chop." Make them feel useful.
TN -- The new kickoff was taken from one of the upstart pro leagues. The idea is to encourage kickoff returns while minimizing the speed of the players when the first collisions happen. The kicking team lines up closer to the end zone and cannot start running until the ball is in play.
Onside kick attempts must now be announced, and the teams line up in the traditional fashion.

WOW - that's some radical stuff! Moreso than I would have guessed. So.........how has all that been received (pun obviously intended)? Seems like there are likely gonna be more pooch kicks - or maybe *mostly* that. And seems like the kicking team would be incentivized to try and kick the ball very high to attempt to recover it. I'm blown away by how radical all that seems reading about it. Announcing an on-side kick? Heretical.

Just judging by what I've seen (not consulting any stats):
-- Some teams still blast the ball out of the back of the endzone or kick to the side of the endzone to have it bounce out
-- Some teams kick the ball to hit or be fielded in the "landing zone" to force the return
The closest thing to a pooch kick is landing it in between the goal line and the 20.
I'm not sure it's accomplished much. The violent injuries might be down, and, as you said, that would be a good thing.
Yeah, announcing an onside kick eliminates any possibility of a surprise.
Seems like blasting it out of the end zone, setting up the receiving team at the 35 just seems like a bad strategy. And.............also seems like this new world really minimizes the chances for a long kick return - one of the most exciting plays in the game. True?

The boycotting of Shedeur Sanders in this year's NFL draft is seemingly unprecedented for a player who is ranked this high. Drug use, questionable behavior, criminal behavior, and known head cases have caused players to drop, but not this far. None of the insiders have an explanation at this time, and league-wide collusion seems unlikely. If you were the Saints or the Raiders, in desperate need of a quarterback, would you pass on a known commodity for any reason?
We'll know someday, but any opinions out there at the moment are baseless. I'd like to see a quote from a GM.

It's a two-way deal. The Steelers plan to sign Aaron Rodgers. I wouldn't be upset with Aaron if I were a fan. I would be upset with management for opting for publicity instead of talent.
Agreed! Rodgers is a really strange guy and disruptive to teams, but the Steelers know this.
Tomlin has been an amazing coach, but his teams over the past few years have been forgettable, and a lot of that centers on poor choices in quarterbacks.
