I'd rather have the second home runs, the extra base, the extra run, the extra rbi.  The cycle in an indication of an interesting day at bat, nothing more.

This year's Rockies club reminds me of Milwaukee's 2002 club, so poorly poorly mismanaged by Dave Lopes...and Bud Black is pretty blameless, I'd say.

Of further interest, Trea Turner happens to be one of only five people in MLB history to have hit for the cycle three times. If he ever does it again, he will be the first to hit for a cycle of cycles. Would that have any bearing on your decision?

Baseball the way it was meant to be played..........Jim Maloney going for a no-hitter, with a pitch count of "who cares?"  'Only' 60 years ago in Wrigley............this is spellbinding.  Just about everything about this is wonderful -- the announcers, the Hamm's beer commercials, the uniforms, the score updates of other games, etc., etc., etc. Gosh this is good..........watched the whole thing..........and today's version of the game is simply worse.  Lots of great comments, too:

And Hamms is acceptably tasty, if beer drinker demands economy.

Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"In the version of the discovery most often heard, (Candy) Cummings developed the curved pitch after watching the erratic flights of clam shells picked up on a beach near his Brooklyn home and flung into the wind. Martin Quigley, in his book The Crooked Pitch (1984), quotes Cummings, somewhat fancifully, it seems: 'I thought what a wonderful thing it would be if I could make a baseball curve like that.' As the story goes, he started to experiment with the curve in games played among boys in the neighborhood, learning the way that finger pressure and wind direction had a great deal to do with the result." - Author Joseph M. Overfield in Baseball's First Stars (SABR, 1996) [Candy Cummings Quotes]

addendum:  There's a very much happenin' 10+ minutes 'live' version of this, but I'm not linking it because that takes things just a bit too far from baseball - even 'this date' 1979 baseball.  But easy to find.  Unclear whether those dance moves on the long version were 'borrowed' from mrbuck, or vice versa.  And of course the same could be said of some of those on the above-linked version.
